During this Su***de Awareness Month, a combat infantry veteran is taking on a massive fitness challenge to raise awareness, more than a decade after he tried to kill himself.

My staff joined Army Combat Veteran Philip Parson for part of his 444 mile trek of the Natchez Trace to raise awareness about su***de prevention. Both his story and the work he is doing now is truly inspirational.

I want to applaud Mr. Phil Parsons for running the entire 444 miles of the Natchez Trace Parkway. Mr. Parsons is currently on day six of his run down the Natchez Trace Parkway's 444 miles. He left the Northern Terminus on September 20 and is scheduled to arrive at the Southern Terminus in Natchez, Mississippi, on September 30. To promote veteran and first responder su***de awareness and prevention, he is traveling across several states to raise money for charity. September is National Su***de Awareness and Prevention Month.

I'd like to recognize combat veteran Phil Parsons. Phil is currently running the length of the Natchez Trace to raise awareness for veteran su***de and mental health.
