In the Wayback Wednesday department…It was four years ago today that Band Beyond Description put us in the Time Machine and took us 40 years in reverse to one of the most exquisite nights in JGB history. Jonny, Gary and Tim were joined by of Jerry’s Middle Finger, on keys and on bass as they played the entirety of 6/16/82 from Music Mountain, NY. Here’s a particularly transcendent moment with the great Garrett Deloian soloing on “Love in the Afternoon.” Were you there?

This Thursday BBD will take us back 50 years as we celebrate the golden anniversary of 1976. They’ll be playing a complete show with an 8-piece band! In addition to the core three, we’ve got and last but not least, birthday girl on vocals! Please come on out early at 8:30pm for a marathon performance honoring one of the finest eras of the Dead. ⚡️ 🌹 💀

On Saturday night, returned to the Crazy Horse for the first time in four years. This Bay Area unit led by was playing with two new members, but you never would’ve known. They were ferociously funky, bringing a festive New Orleans type of vibe to the room. Check out one of the baddest bassists in all the land, doing what he does. 🔥 Thanks to everyone who came out and made it a party. 💃 🕺

It’s an exciting day in Nevada City today as we kick off Pride Month with the Pride Parade at 6pm. 🌈 There are all sorts of fun happenings surrounding it. Stop by the CH before and after for food and drink specials.

From 5-8pm, the local all-female sensation Las Ninas Muertas, will be taking us on a ride through their acoustic interpretations of the Grateful Dead's roots. Everybody loves this band and the NO COVER factor doesn't hurt.

Stick around for our show later with the return of Magnificent Sanctuary Band from Humboldt. This is a full-fledged JGB dance party. The members are influenced by Phish, so they give this classic material an extra injection of funk, ferocity and flair! 🪩 💃 🕺
The band features our good buddy Brian Swizlo on keys from Object Heavy, so you know the grooves will be relentless!

It was a sing-a-long kind of night with Kyle Gass Company. and his fierce acoustic trio gave the sold out crowd a healthy mix of Tenacious D chestnuts and classic jukebox covers. Kyle’s dazzling guitar picking and showmanship were on full display. We also were treated to a rootsy, soulful set from The Earle Trio, featuring local heroes Earle Ford, Bob Woods and The Brett Cole. Thanks to everyone who came out and helped us close out the month on a high note!

Ahhh….that signature sound…there’s nothing else like it. People traveled here from far and wide to see this legendary band that plays very seldom these days. Their foundational element is the deeply impactful songwriting of keyboardist Trevor Garrod as seen here. The organic musical conversation between these four old friends unfolded in such a beautiful and perfectly balanced way throughout the night. Excited for one more SOLD OUT show tonight with an earlier start time of 9pm.

As you can see, our music director was roughing it in between sets at the amazing Golden Road Gathering a couple weeks ago. Even on vacation, he never stops thinking about the Crazy Horse.
