The Caffe Nonna Head Chef will be a culinary expert who will oversee operations and staff of a professional restaurant operation. Your duties will include but are not limited to creating and maintaining a kitchen's budget, assigning tasks to the kitchen team and ensuring guest satisfaction by resolving any issues that may arise in an efficient and timely manner. You will be working closely with the General Manager to oversee entire restaurant operations.
Job Duties
Ensuring the kitchen staff adhere to quality, hygiene and cleanliness standards
Staying up to date with trends in the industry and kitchen processes
Managing vendor relationships while maintaining affordable prices
Managing inventory and food ordering as needed
Overseeing the maintenance of kitchen equipment and organizing repairs when needed
Handling scheduling and staff issues such as sick leave and attendance
Developing new dishes & overhauling menus to attract more guests while keeping within the seasons and image of the restaurant
Ensuring guests receive excellent service and enjoy their culinary experience
Managing hourly employees
Reporting to the General Manager with updates and anything that needs to be addressed
Skills and Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent qualification
• Certificate in Culinary Arts or related field
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role
• In-depth knowledge of restaurant best practices and cooking methods
• The ability to manage a team of BOH and FOH employees
• The ability to make good food consistently, even in a busy kitchen
• The ability to improve kitchen operations during operating and non operating hours
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Time management skills
• Must be able to work cooperatively and efficiently in a team
**Spanish speaking is not required but a plus
