A Note to the Black Abbey Community,
Over the past few days, we’ve heard from many of you—supportive messages, thoughtful questions, and understandable concerns. We want to speak directly and transparently about this moment.
Brewing is not an easy business. For independent beer companies across the country, the last few years have been especially challenging. Rising costs, changing consumer habits, and tightening margins have forced even well-loved brands to make difficult decisions simply to survive.
The partnership with Jackalope Brewery gives Black Abbey Brewing Company something invaluable in today’s environment: stability and a real path forward. This transaction ensures the Black Abbey brand doesn’t just exist in memory—but continues forward with the opportunity to grow into its next chapter.
We also want to address a question many of you have asked: the taproom remains open during this transition. As Black Abbey winds down operations, the taproom will continue to operate and welcome guests until that process is complete.
We recognize that acquisitions come with hard realities. Not every role carries over, and that impacts real people. We are actively working to help affected team members find opportunities, including conversations and interviews currently underway.
Looking ahead, Black Abbey will have a meaningful presence within the Jackalope Taproom, including dedicated draft lines, merchandise, and ongoing visibility.
We’re grateful to this community for caring deeply about independent beer. This partnership strengthens both brands and gives Black Abbey the chance to continue—rather than quietly disappear—in a challenging industry.
