Hey there, Kroakers!
So, I've made a decision. Some of you might not like it, and I completely understand that. But I have my reasons, and I want to share them with you.
I've decided that I will no longer be organizing weekly Kroaker Takeovers.
This wasn't a decision I made lightly. In fact, it's something I've been thinking about for a couple of months now.
The Takeovers were something I genuinely cherished. They were my way of keeping us all together, of giving everyone a chance to see each other without having to figure out who was singing where. They were also a way to explore new places, support the karaoke community as a whole, and maybe even stumble across that perfect little spot we could call home until I got us set up somewhere new.
And, if I'm being completely transparent, there was a selfish reason too.
I didn't want you guys to forget about me.
After everything that happened, I was terrified that the family we'd spent so much time building would just slowly disappear. That I'd become someone you used to know, instead of someone you still looked forward to seeing. The Takeovers were, in part, my way of trying to hold on to that.
But things change, and sometimes you have to recognize when something just isn't working the way you'd hoped.
Over the last several months, participation in the Takeovers has steadily declined. Fewer people have been showing up, fewer people have been voting, and the Takeover I posted for this week sat there for four days with only one vote.
And you know what? I get it.
I've talked to several of you, and I understand that constantly bouncing from one place to another isn't everyone's cup of tea. You guys have spent years singing at different venues. You know which ones you love, which ones you'd rather avoid, and which ones just aren't your kind of place.
Me? I've spent the last eight years at basically two locations. ๐คฃ So I'm still learning what you guys already know! And that's okay!
But here's what I really want everyone to understand. I'm not giving up on the Kroaker Army. Not even a little bit. I still have some pretty big plans for us. I'm still working toward bringing you an awesome karaoke system and an even better experience. I still want to host private parties, celebrate the Sabbats together, and find new ways to bring this ridiculous, wonderful family together.
And yes, I am STILL planning on setting up at a new venue! I just have to find the right one, and I'll admit I've been a little absent lately.
For now, though, I think my time and energy would be better spent focusing on getting us up and running, rather than trying to figure out which bar everybody wants to visit every Saturday.
Which brings me to my next point...
MORE KROAKER-ONLY PARTIES!
Seriously, if any of you have a garage, shop, or other space where we could set up for a night of karaoke, HIT ME UP! We'll figure out the details and make that s**t happen!
And just because I'm not organizing Takeovers anymore doesn't mean we can't still get together on a Saturday. It doesn't mean I won't occasionally throw out a suggestion or show up somewhere to sing with you guys. It just means I'm taking the pressure off trying to organize something every single week.
I want you guys to keep doing what you love, wherever you love doing it. Go sing your hearts out. Support your favorite KJs. Enjoy your favorite places. And who knows? Maybe one of these Saturdays, we'll all end up in the same bar anyway!
Ultimately, I don't want the Kroaker Army to become something that feels like an obligation. I want it to be something we genuinely look forward to being part of.
Because this Army was never supposed to be about a particular bar, a particular night, or even a particular KJ. It was always about the people. And that hasn't changed.
I love you awesome nerds, and I can't wait to finally get this next chapter kicked off.
The Kroaker Army isn't going anywhere. We're just changing how we do things.
Much love,
Monster ๐
P.S.! Don't forget about the Samhain party!!
