🍻 Team Spotlight: Donovan “D” Cater 🍻
Some people join the team after discovering Pigeon Hill. Donovan's story goes back even further.
When Pigeon Hill was preparing to open its doors, Donovan was one of the very first people to apply. In fact, we still remember his application- he proudly listed bartending every year at the Michigan Irish Music Festival. Looking back, we probably should have given him a chance right then and there!
Even though he didn't join the staff at opening, Donovan was there from Day 1 as a supporter, regular customer, and friend of the brewery. Years later, he officially joined the team, and for more than three years now he's been a familiar face behind the bar, serving great beer and making guests feel at home.
What many people may not realize is that Donovan's impact extends beyond bartending. If you've ever picked up a can of Walter Blondale, you've seen his work. The Walter artwork is 100% Donovan- another example of the creativity and talent he brings to the Pigeon Hill family. (And if his "most random fact" gives you a clue, yes, the guy who made underground comics also happens to be a pretty talented artist.)
Pigeon Hill has also played a pretty important role in Donovan's life outside of work. It's where he met his wife, Becky, who bartended at Pigeon Hill for many years! As he puts it, one of his greatest Pigeon Hill highlights isn't even work-related- it's meeting his wife and the lifelong friendships he's built along the way.
From supporter, to regular, to bartender, artist, husband, and friend, Donovan has become a big part of the Pigeon Hill story. We're grateful he stuck around long enough for us to finally hire him!
Thanks for everything you do, Donovan! And next time you crack open a Walter Blondale, remember- you've got Donovan to thank for what's on the outside of the can! 🍻🎨❤️
