25 years.
It is hard to believe a quarter of a century has passed since September 11, 2001 — a day that forever changed our country and the lives of so many families.
Today, we remember the nearly 3,000 lives that were taken too soon. We honor the firefighters, police officers, first responders, service members, and ordinary Americans who showed extraordinary courage in the face of unimaginable tragedy.
For those of us who remember that day, we remember where we were. We remember the disbelief. We remember the heartbreak.
But we also remember what came afterward.
We remember neighbors helping neighbors. Strangers embracing strangers. American flags flying everywhere. And for a moment, despite our differences, we stood together as one nation.
Twenty-five years later, may we never forget those we lost, those who ran toward danger to help others, and the families who have carried their memories every day since.
Today, we pause. We remember. We honor.
