Did you know the building that now houses FairyCross Bottle Shop was once a bank and in 1904, burglars blew up the vault and escaped with $4,000?

Now, 122 years later, we’re inviting the bankers, burglars, outlaws and suspects back for the First Annual Bankers & Burglars Bash!

💗 Dolly Do-Good Day is coming to Murphy! 💗

The Town of Murphy has officially proclaimed 9/25 as “Dolly Do-Good Day,” and FairyCross Bottle Shop is excited to join the celebration by giving back to our local students.

We’re collecting personal care items for 4th and 5th graders at Murphy Elementary School. Help us fill the “Dolly Boxes” by dropping off donations at FairyCross anytime between now and September 25!

🧴 Suggested items include:
• Deodorant
• Toothpaste & toothbrushes
• Mouthwash & dental floss
• Socks
• Undergarments
• Women’s personal care items

All donated items will be delivered to Murphy Elementary School, where school personnel will distribute them to students as needed.

💗 Let’s come together as a community and make sure our kids have the essentials they need. Every donation big or small can make a difference!

We’re raising money to support the important work of the Cherokee County Historical Museum and its efforts to preserve and share our community’s history. ❤️

While you’re here, learn the fascinating—and true!—story of the 1904 robbery of the Bank of Murphy, when burglars blew open the bank vault and made off with thousands of dollars.

💰 $4,000 was a LOT of money in 1904… or was it $4,500?

Even the newspapers couldn’t agree! Accounts of Murphy’s infamous bank robbery reported different amounts, somewhere between $4,000 and $4,500.

Whatever the number, the burglars made off with a small fortune after blowing up the bank vault in the building that now houses FairyCross Bottle Shop. 💥🏦

So, what would $4,000 or $4,500 in 1904 be worth today?

Come raise a glass to one of Murphy’s most intriguing stories at the Bankers & Burglars Bash on September 9! 🍷
