We trained ourselves to scan, bag, and pay.
Now we’re being watched while doing it.
And somehow… that’s called “convenience.”
There’s always someone standing there, clipboard in hand, making sure we don’t mess up — while the actual checkout lanes sit empty.
It’s not faster.
It’s not better.
It’s just shifting the work onto customers.
If there’s staff available to supervise, there’s staff available to serve.
Real service used to mean human interaction, efficiency, and respect for people’s time.
Now it feels like we’re doing the job… for free.
At some point, convenience stopped being about us — and started being about cutting corners.
And everyone notices.
