We, like everyone in the comic community, were deeply saddened by the news of George Perez's stage 4 cancer diagnosis.

When we were still in the business of putting on comic conventions, George was our constant companion, attending almost all of our shows since his first appearance in Pittsburgh in 1999.

In George, we had found a kindred spirit, a man who loves his fans as much as they love him.

Of all the comic professionals we have ever encountered, no one stands above George in talent, compassion, enthusiasm, and grace.

A talented artist. A loving husband. An incredible friend.

I wish not to eulogize the man while he is still alive, instead I pray for healing, I pray for comfort, I pray for miracles, and I pray he have as many peaceful, loving days on this earth as his body allows.

We love you George

We work in a world populated by capes and tights but how many of us can say we knew a true superhero. We were lucky enough to know one.

Bill Slemmer served our country in the U.S. Coast Guard. He was a Super-Husband, Super-Father, Super-Grand-Father and Super-Friend. When Bill faced his numerous health issues that he's had for as long as I can remember, he faced them with a bravery greater than any I've ever read about in any story. When he was put on the heart transplant list, he never lost his smile and his love of the Lord. He was a man of strength that made everyone around him better. Bill left this world this morning mere days after his 50th Birthday, but he has moved on to be with the Lord, like the hero he has always been. Bill was truly the World's Finest.

All our love and prayers for comfort go out to Maria, B.J., Adam, Annie, Jo and the entire Slemmer family.
