Support Brooke, Darian (Dee), and Baby Etta During an Unthinkable Journey
Darian (Dee) and Brooke have been building a life together since their marriage in 2017, grounded in love, resilience, and hope for the future. On December 31, 2025, they welcomed their beautiful baby girl, Etta—a moment that should have marked the beginning of their happiest chapter yet.
But just as their new life as a family of three began, everything changed.
Last spring, Brooke experienced a fall that led to ongoing shoulder pain. Like many would, she sought care through chiropractic visits and massage therapy, hoping for relief. Then, without warning, her symptoms became much more serious. Brooke suddenly lost the ability to raise her arms above her head. She began losing strength in her neck and started having difficulty eating—alarming changes that no one could explain.
She pursued every possible answer. Physical therapy brought no improvement. X-rays and MRI scans showed nothing abnormal. Still searching for answers, Brooke underwent an EMG (a nerve test), which came back abnormal. In January, after returning to her sports medicine physician, Darian and Brooke received devastating news: there was a possibility that Brooke had ALS at just 29 years old.
This possibility was especially heartbreaking. Brooke knows this disease all too well—she bravely watched her own mother battle ALS and understands the difficult road that may lie ahead.
In mid-March, their worst fears were confirmed—Brooke was diagnosed with ALS. Further testing revealed she does not qualify for a gene-targeted treatment that could potentially slow progression. Instead, she has the FUS gene, an aggressive form of ALS, with an estimated life expectancy of approximately one year.
Instead of soaking in every moment as new parents, Darian and Brooke are now facing an unimaginable reality—balancing the care of their newborn daughter with constant medical appointments, treatments, and the emotional weight of this diagnosis.
The financial impact has been significant and will continue to grow. With ongoing medical care, travel for appointments, and the inability for them to return to work, the burden is overwhelming. While they are incredibly grateful for family who have stepped in to help care for baby Etta, it has meant sacrificing precious time they should be spending together as a new family.
We are asking for your support during this incredibly difficult time. Donations will help ease the financial burden of:
Medical appointments, treatments, and specialized care
Travel for consultations and potential clinical options
Daily living expenses as their ability to work is impacted
Support for Darian, Brooke, and baby Etta during the months ahead
If you’re unable to donate, sharing this story would mean the world to this family.
Darian (Dee), Brooke, and baby Etta should be focused on love, milestones, and making memories together. Your support can help give them the time, stability, and peace to focus on what matters most—each other.
Thank you for keeping this family in your thoughts, prayers, and hearts.
