Moby Dick's Bar was the heart & soul of Hennepin Avenue in downtown Minneapolis, home to the Beautiful People, street hustlers, college students, bikers, pool hustlers, street girls, LGBTQ before it was a thing, people "selling" items that shall not be described, suburban kids who got street smart real quick or likely never returned, off-duty cops, bookies, workers from every bar & business in the
area, anonymous celebs perhaps noticed or not, Vietnam vets just back from Hell, old people in the day/young after dark, & people came from far & wide to experience it. All colors, all preferences, & all in-between were welcome until the best bouncers on The Avenue & in the region announced, "Last call, it's hotel motel time!" Moby's was THE bar w/the latest music played LOUD on a kickass sound system. Generous hand-poured double shots cost $.90; double-doubles (4+ shots) cost $1.80 except during the amazing 2-for-1 Happy Hours from 4-8pm daily. The fools who celebrated the day Moby's closed got what they deserved: decades of decay & a dead zone where once there was life & revenue. This page was created by former Moby's cocktail waitress, Dali (sounds like "Dolly"), who worked there from 1973-1980. Alan Freed & Dali are page administrators.
