Hi Friends,
We want to express our gratitude for all of the love and support during the last three years we have been open and during this unfortunate turn of events.
Here is what happened:
On Monday morning at about 2:30am, an electrical box in the back of the building malfunctioned, sparking fire behind the building. The small combustion spread quickly to the dried white oak firewood stacked in back and also to a wooden lean-to. The fire was fast and furious. It was quickly put out by the Minneapolis fire department by 3:30am. Thanks to their quick response, and our all-block building, the fire did not spread inside. The fire department is positive that there was no ill will. The camera footage from our friends at Fade Away Lazor and Tattoo, along with our own footage, support that conclusion. It was just the worst timing possible for us and for anyone excited to come visit in our final week.
Thankfully the damage was only exterior, not interior. The fire did, however, melt all of the exterior power coming into the building from the powerlines. Because of that, everything inside shut off, including our walk-in coolers and freezers holding all of our food production and supplies for this final week. Everything had to be tossed. The knocking out of electricity and the loss of product is too great of a hit to realistically be able to open our last week of service. We had a closing party planned for Sunday and everything.
As for what’s next…
We are going to take a little break after this tough, unfortunate ending. We had planned for a bittersweet last week and a closing party. But sadly, all now must be canceled as we deal with the challenges created by the fire. We will still be here this year with the catering events we have planned, using our Travail family as a Commissary, to fullfill those commitments. We are working on what’s next for MNBBQCO. We look towards the spring with ideas of personalized catering, sauce bottling, rub packaging, and some retail fun. Stay tuned, and we will let you know what is on the horizon as we get closer.
Once again, from the bottom of our hearts, we appreciate all the love and support. Thank you for coming in and we will see you soon.
