There have been a lot of emotions these past few days. Gratitude is one of them.

We are incredibly thankful for the firefighters, law enforcement officers, emergency responders, utility crews, and everyone involved in protecting our community. Because of their efforts, Joe’s House is still standing and we still have a place to call home.

At the same time, it’s hard not to feel guilty when others have lost so much. When neighbors have lost their homes, possessions, and memories, being grateful for what remains can feel complicated. What we’re learning is that gratitude and sadness can exist together. We can be thankful for what we still have while also holding space for those who are hurting.

Our hearts are with every family affected. We see you, we’re thinking about you, and we’re committed to supporting our community however we can.

At Joe’s House, we know life doesn’t always go according to plan. There are days that are heavy, frustrating, and downright difficult. But one thing that helps us keep moving forward is remembering that no matter how tough things feel, they can almost always be worse.

That doesn’t mean ignoring the struggle. It means looking for the good that still exists. The lesson. The opportunity. The person who showed up for you. The fact that you’re still here, still fighting, and still capable of creating something better tomorrow.

Sometimes finding the positive isn’t about pretending everything is okay—it’s about choosing gratitude for what is.

Our hearts are with everyone affected by this tragedy.
We hope everyone is safe, and we want to extend our deepest gratitude to the firefighters, police officers, emergency responders, utility crews, and everyone involved in the response and cleanup efforts. Your dedication and courage do not go unnoticed.
Thank you to everyone who reached out to check on us. The support, messages, and kindness mean more than you know.
Most importantly, our thoughts are with those who lost their homes, belongings, and cherished memories. We are truly sorry for what you’re going through and are keeping you and your families in our hearts during this difficult time.
Please continue to support one another, check in on your neighbors, and stay safe.

Joe’s House has never been just four walls, bottles on shelves, taps pouring beer, or food coming out of the kitchen.
It’s the conversations that happen when someone needs a friend. It’s the laughter that fills the room after a hard day. It’s the celebrations, the reunions, the first dates, the victories, and even the moments when someone just needed a place to belong.
The drinks, food, and atmosphere bring people through the door, but the people are what make Joe’s House special. Every story shared, every friendship made, and every memory created is what turns a building into a community.
Thank you for making Joe’s House so much more than a bar. Thank you for making it home.

One of the hardest parts of owning a business is hearing, “Well, that’s just part of being a business owner.”
And maybe it is.
Long hours? Part of it.
Stress? Part of it.
Sacrifices? Part of it.
But behind every small business is a real person carrying the weight of payroll, bills, employees, customer experiences, and countless sleepless nights. Sometimes business owners don’t need advice or reminders that it’s “part of the job.” Sometimes they just need a little understanding, encouragement, and support.
Before dismissing someone’s struggle, remember that business owners are people too. A little empathy can go a long way.

Sometimes the strongest thing you can do is tell someone you’re struggling.
Life can get heavy. There are moments when the pain feels overwhelming and the road ahead seems impossible to see. In those moments, please remember: you do not have to carry it alone.
Call a friend. Talk to family. Reach out to a counselor. Walk into a place where people care. Ask for help.
The world is better with you in it. Your story matters. Your presence matters. Even if it doesn’t feel like it today, there are people who want to listen and help you through.
At Joe’s House, we believe in community, connection, and looking out for one another. Check on your people. Send the text. Make the call. Start the conversation.

Sometimes the most important thing we can do is ask a question instead of making an assumption.
Take a moment to read the room. Show empathy. Listen a little longer. We never truly know what someone is carrying beneath the surface. Many people are fighting battles they never talk about, wearing smiles that hide pain, worry, grief, or fear.
A simple “How are you really doing?” can make someone feel seen. Compassion costs nothing, but it can mean everything.
