Big Jim’s Hut held its 5th Annual Crush off last night to benefit charities of the Crushers’ choice. This year was a “Toast to the ones here today, and a toast to the ones we lost on the way” in memory of dear friends we lost this past year.

Congratulations to Krista Burton Wisseman on winning 2024 Best Crush!

This year we raised over $900 to support the following:

•ALS Awareness, in memory of JR Cropper
•National Fallen Firefighter Foundation
•Team Ennis Eagles, Polar Bear Plunge team benefiting Special Olympics Delaware
•Unite for Her, in memory of Amy Beachell

Thank you to all in attendance, our hosts Jim and Denise Burton, and to all our crushers for making this event possible. The live music by Catch the Drift was awesome, check out their local schedule on Facebook. We cant wait to see you all again next year!

It’s always 5 o’clock at Big Jim’s Hut!!

Big Jim’s Hut held our Annual Crush Off tonight benefiting charities that are important to our crushers. In first place we had a tie with JB Mitchell and Team Morgan Burton, Kyle and Sami Mumford taking home the trophy, they crushed for ALS Awareness in memory of JR Cropper and the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation respectively. The other crushers competing this evening were Jordan Dickerson who crushed for the Barbara K. Brooks Transition House, Inc., Amanda Cordrey who crushed for the Women’s Sate Police softball tournament: benefitting the DE Breast Cancer Coalition and B+ Foundation, and Rick and Laurie Morris who crushed in memory of their son Beau and the Beau Love Foundation. It was a great night with lots of great drinks and entertainment by Wade Perdue!

Big Jim’s Hut came together with all our friends and Crushed for local charities tonight! Each Crusher gets to take $200 to their cause but only one Crusher gets to take home the trophy…Congratulations goes to Krista Burton Wisseman who’s Orange-Creamsicle Crush took home the top prize!! Check out the Crushers, their charities and everyone who came to support them. We’re already looking forward to next year!!

Congratulations to Ricky and Laurie Morris, the winners of Big Jim’s Hut Second Annual Crush Off!! They made their signature Lemon Crush and will take home the trophy until next year’s event! Thank you to everyone who came, and all of our Crushers who made their drinks. Since all of the charities were such great causes, the Crushers agreed to split the money between them. We can’t wait for our event next year!!

Our dinner tonight was Chicken Chesapeake with Denise’s homemade crab imperial, Adkins Produce farm fresh squash and zucchini, and pasta salad. Summer cookin never tasted so good!
