As we keep on brewing and refining, experimenting and evolving, we're excited to double down on our craft and take the next steps forward in our brewing journey. As our supporters along the way who have cheered us on, shared your tastes and honest feedback, and waited eagerly along with us to see our course begin to chart itself, it's with great appreciation and excitement that we debut here our new brand, Oakflower Brewing Company. We've got some big things on the horizon, so follow our new page to stay up to date!

Mist - 7.4% Mixed Ferm Saison

Happy Saison Day! In honor of the holiday started by the great , we're finally cutting loose one of our favorite recent beers, Mist. While we brew tons of mixed fermentation beers, most don't make it out to a wider audience due to small batches, long aging, and us just wanting to hoard them for ourselves.

Mist starts as a dry hopped wheat and barley base fermented with our house saison strain, and then further funkified with our main blend of brettanomyces. It emerges later with waves of overripe tropical fruit, citrus, leather, and light musty funk with a very mild, quenching acidity. Naturally carbonated in thick glass, store cold and upright before opening.

A good number of 500ml bottles available, give us a shout if you want to try!

Groves - 5.6% Pale Ale

Groves is our next lovely step in the never ending quest to have a lower ABV pale ale that still retains the body and hop density of its bigger cousins. Firmly in the NEIPA realm, this hazy beauty pours a radiant orange, giving off notes of dank, tropical fruit and freshly squeezed citrus. We utilized a good bit of rye and wheat malts to help round out the body while also providing a light rye spice to the base beer.

50+ cans available at the moment, DM for info!

Mirage - 8% Saison

A bit of a deviation from our typical lower ABV saisons, Apparition pours like hazy, golden, sunshine, perfect for these sunny but frigid days we've been having. The high carb and fluffy head helps deliver waves of grassy green tea and bright citrus, brought on by a healthy Loral dry hop.

Also, after a lengthy cold lagering period, we have a case or so of Lamington Lager cans up for grabs this week. As mentioned before, we've had a strong focus on rebrewing our "house" beers over the past year, working to slowly refine and get closer to the ideal profiles we've had in our heads. This one is about there, with a clean, pale malt driven base and just a touch more hop presence than you'd typically find in a Helles.

DM to grab some!

Sunstar - 7.8% NEIPA

In between filling fermenters for some longer aging projects, we've been busy refining some oldies and pumping out a few new pale beers. Sunstar is a creamy IPA, packed to the gills with Citra, Citra Lupomax, and Mosaic in the dry hop after being blasted with a Simcoe and Citra whirlpool charge. Notes of ripe pineapple, fresh squeezed oranges, and passion fruit, with a mellow underlying dankness.

Rootstock: Citra + HBC 472, 6.8%

Rootstock is our hazy IPA series that takes a tried-and-true, Citra-heavy base beer and layers on new or lesser used hop varieties. We start every batch with a base of pilsner malt, white wheat, flaked oats, and a healthy amount of Citra in both the whirlpool and dry hop. This version split the hopping duties with the yet-unnamed HBC 472, which brings with it a beautiful and interesting bouquet of citrus, coconut, with more than a touch of oaky vanilla.

Baby Lou - 3.5% American Porter

Ahhhh, nothing like a dark beer in front of a fire during a summer afternoon.

Baby Lou is the scaled down version of Old Lou, our imperial porter. It carries the same chocolatey-caramel profile of the imperial version, but at an ABV that lends itself to summer consumption. Drinking it by the half liter is a fine idea, and it's a style that still holds up as the beer warms. Just don't let it warm up too much

Heirloom: Simcoe - 6.5% IPA

Another one we've been constantly toying with and refining over the past year, Heirloom is our single hop IPA series. Having hit all of the popular hops at some point or another, we keep finding ourselves coming back to Simcoe for its potent blend of dank, ripe tropical fruit, citrus, and the undercurrent of pine from an earlier era. This latest iteration found us making subtle water tweaks to increase the creaminess of the body while maintaining enough hop definition in the end product.

Dew Drop - 4.5% Grisette

A refresh on the first beer we posted almost exactly a year ago. As big proponents of incremental tweaks, this beer has been slowly refined since you all first saw it. The goal has remained the same, a refreshing, hoppy, yeast driven beer with a mouthfeel that belies its ABV due to a hearty dose of spelt and loads of low alpha acid hops.

This batch was split after fermentation, with half going straight to bottle conditioning and half getting a light dry hopping of Motueka before kegging. The dry hopped version (pictured) adds a noticeable herbal lemon-lime layer, further pushing the light refreshing aspect of this beer.

Growth Rings - 5.5% oak fermented saison

One of our favorite additions recently, especially as this batch has developed, has been the use of an oak fermentation vessel for a clean beer. Using a slightly modified version of our house saison, we fermented this beer in a neutral oak barrel for four weeks before racking into stainless for further conditioning. The oak tannins add to the dryness of an already dry beer, while contributing spicy oak layers and a pleasant hint of vanilla.

Hopefully we can maintain regular availability of clean oak barrels for further beers, as we really have our gears turning now.

Lamington Lager - 4.8% unfiltered golden lager

Built off of a classic Munich Helles base, but with a bit of wheat for added body and a touch more hop character. Luckily, at a sub 5% ABV we don't feel too bad about how frequently we've been refilling our mugs. Crisp, dry, and refreshing, it's the perfect beer for days spent outside as the weather gets warmer.

On a serious note, we hope everyone is staying safe and hunkered down these days, and wish all the best to those directly affected by the current pandemic. If there's anything we can do, even just providing some crispy libations, always feel free to reach out.
