The power of networking is PRICELESS.

Last week, I had the opportunity to attend the Texas Governor’s Small Business Summit, and this one felt a little extra special.

Our On The Sweet Wagon charcuterie cups were featured at the event, an opportunity that came directly from a referral from Frost Bank to city officials. How cool is that?! 🥹 Thank you for believing in our business, supporting small businesses, and putting our name in the room. Opportunities like this are exactly why relationships matter.

And here’s a fun fact that still blows my mind:

On The Sweet Wagon doesn’t even have its own social media platforms. Since moving to Texas just two years ago, this little side of our business has generated $110,000 in sales; largely through referrals, relationships, repeat clients, and NETWORKING.

So, if you’re still wondering whether that networking event is worth attending…

GO. 👏 TO. 👏 THE. 👏 EVENT.

Introduce yourself. Shake the hands. Tell people what you do. Support other businesses. Build genuine relationships. You truly never know which conversation will lead to the next opportunity.

I’m incredibly proud to share that Brittani Sullivan Ross, Mark McMorrough and I played a key role in helping the City of Canyon modernize its alcohol ordinance. For decades, the ordinance prohibited alcohol service on City property before 12:00 p.m. After working alongside City officials multiple meetings and speaking during the City Commission meeting, the ordinance has officially been updated to allow alcohol service at 8:00 a.m. during approved special events.

Standing up and speaking in front of City Hall was definitely outside my comfort zone, but advocating for small businesses and fair opportunities made every minute worth it. This change will benefit vendors, event organizers, and our community for years to come.

A huge thank you to everyone who listened, collaborated, and worked with us throughout this process. It truly showed what can happen when people come together with a common goal.
