I told you we'd be digging deeper. I'm finally getting there. Do you remember Precis?
I'm not sure how to pronounce this even with almost 3 years of High School French. Precious? Pray-cease? Just because I took it doesn't mean I was any good at it. You probably weren't either.
From the 1990 Edison Brothers annual report, Precis was a new womens' footwear and accessories concept developed out of Bakers and Leeds.
Precis was meant to be smaller and attract younger customers featuring black backgrounds and neo-classic fixtures and details. It's said the footwear is to "somewhat more focused", emphasizing influences that are advanced but not extreme.
At this time, there were just 5 stores, and more were planned. Private label shoes were accentuated with some brands, and accessories like jewelry, hats and belts were on the docket for the customer to fully accessorize an outfit.
From my untrained eye, it feels the format was a bit like recently closed Francesca's. Am I correct in that? If you remember them, did you like these stores? Let me know. I am always here to learn more.
