I was going to say all of this at the party Saturday night… but everyone was having so much fun, it just didn’t seem right. So here it goes now – put your reading glasses on, this is a longer one:
People tend to think that business owners make a ton of money. Nothing could be further from the truth. For the vast majority of us, our small business is a passion project. The long hours spent running it resulting in – if we’re lucky – just enough money to pay the bills.
And though that was always the case for Opposition Brewing, Erin and I still feel like we struck it rich. Not cash rich, but rich none the less. We are so very blessed to have made so many life long friends at Oppo that we can’t even imagine now what life was like prior. Friends so close we consider them family. On top of that, owning our own business provided me the flexibility to stay home and raise our kiddo, without having to send her to day-care every day – something I was adamant about. So yea, because of that, we actually DID make it rich from Opposition Brewing Co.
The thing we’ll miss most about not having the brewery anymore? It won’t be the loss of income, that we can figure out. It’ll be all of you. Hanging out playing darts on Wednesday nights, or co****le on Thursdays, or just unwinding with everyone after work on a Friday. That’s the big loss we feel in our hearts right now, and the thing that will be the hardest to replace.
We want to thank you so very much for all of your support over the years. I’m sure all brewery owners say the same thing, but I think it’s actually true of Opposition Brewing – We had the best community of patrons anywhere. Period. So thank you for truly blessing us with your presence over the last 11 years, we’re so very grateful to all of you and wish everyone nothing but the very best.
So a final Salute!! From Opposition Brewing Company. We’ll be seeing you around the valley. Keep tabs on this page as we hope to coordinate the occasional “reunion” so that we can all keep connected.
With much love and respect – farewell friends.
