The Log Cabin Cafe: Fresh Brewed Roots Music

What was once just wishful thinking has become a regional reality: Renovations to the old log cabin structure known as Memorial Hall (formerly St. Mary’s Of The Lakes RC Church) in Medford Lakes are nearly complete. Its doors opened June 2, 2018 to present “The Log Cabin Cafe” (LCC) a music venue serving the Medford Lakes community and beyond. This charming cabin has the distinction (shared with its next door neighbor, the Protestant Community Church) of being named to the Federal and State Registries of Historic Buildings. Unfortunately, as an historic structure whose renovation is ongoing, its interior restrooms are not yet handicap-accessible. Handicap-accessible bathrooms are located in the church across the street, and LCC volunteers will cheerfully provide assistance to people needing guidance to those facilities.

The Log Cabin Cafe offers cafe table seating for quiet conversation, with tablecloths and electric candles on each table. This is not to be confused with an “open mic” venue. A $10 admission fee affords the guest an opportunity to hear some very fine acts from our local and regional music scene, performing on the Cabin’s large stage, while sampling assorted coffees, teas, juices and baked goods. For 2019, the Cabin opens at 7 pm and closes at 10, on the first Saturday of each month. Two acts perform nightly, at 7:15 and 8:45 pm. Eventually, the Cabin also hopes to offer occasional "star nights" headlined by “signed” (recording label) performers.

The Log Cabin Cafe is managed and staffed entirely by volunteers, without whose assistance this venue would not be possible. LCC continues to welcome new, committed volunteers. Those interested in giving one night per month of their time should see the On-Site Director. All net proceeds of the Cafe go to the neighboring Protestant Community Church of Medford Lakes (“PCC”) also known as ‘The Cathedral of The Woods”). Through its various missions, the PCC joyfully supports people in need throughout the local, regional and global community.
