Today is a day I had hoped never to have to confront.
I have pushed as hard as I can to keep the pub open through thick and thin. I have a great staff that has stuck with me and put pieces into place for success if we were able to turn the financial corner. But as of today the Mill House Pub is closed. We will not reopen short of an act of god.
For my financial and mental health, this has to be. I can’t express enough how much I’m proud of my employees and the community that supported us. I’m blessed to have had six years of time to experience the community love, the crazy ups and downs, and the incredible talent this area has.
My lease didn’t run out, my money did. My employees are aces and superstars and deserved more than I have been able to provide, my customers are great people who I will dearly miss, the musicians are better than they think they are….you should be playing in bigger venues for more money. The state of maine is a harsh place to do business but the individuals tasked with enforcing the stupid rules we all live by are some of the hardest working people I’ve ever met. Finding loopholes, providing insight, expediting where they can. I literally ran with the opportunity until they turned out the lights. I’ll post over the next couple of days and weeks with updates and information as I have it.
It’s sudden, I’m sorry, but that’s what happens when you try until the bitter end. Peace, love, and thank you all for a great time and some of the best experiences in my life.
