When life gives you lemons, drink frosé. Yes I forgot a bottle of our new 2022 Brut Rosé in the freezer yesterday. While very bummed about the explosion of delicious wine in our freezer, we can report that it made the most delicious shaved ice. Did Desiree make Michael try it in the name of science? Yes. Yes she did.

We have been making traditional method wines since 2011. Estate grown, hand crafted, and always disgorged by hand by Michael Lundeen. Wines made with craft, care, patience, and the many hands that tended to it (in this very bottle) before it ever reaches your table.

It’s messy, mesmerizing, and always delicious.

I am proud to share some recent reviews of Lundeen sparkling wines by the inimitable Paul Gregutt . A recently published article of his contained a brief interview with me as well as reviews for these Lundeen sparkling wines; some of the finest of my career to date. If you hurry, you may still score some in time for the holidays! Link to our online store in the Bio.

Paul has been following the exciting rise of and Oregon Traditional Method sparkling in general and he is putting his voice behind our efforts. I want to extend the same courtesy.

If you are unfamiliar, let me introduce you. Gregutt is one of American wine media’s most experienced reviewers of the wines from Oregon and Washington, with a wine writing career that started back in the 1980s. He was a former Northwest Editor and founding member of the Wine Enthusiast’s Tasting Panel, 10-year columnist for Seattle Times, contributor on Pacific NW entries for The World Atlas of Wine as well as The Oxford Companion to Wine, and now focuses his efforts entirely on Paul Gregutt’s Northwest Wine Guide found on Substack. Check him out.

He honestly explores the wines of this region with a lifelong love of wine and a broad perspective; unaffected by advertising or other financial pressures to compromise his reviews. He is a great resource for anyone who enjoys wine from the Northwest.

Sometimes you find Michael and Gerry randomly matching farm attire while at the vineyard. Does Desiree force them to stop and take a picture? Yes. Yes she does.

Picking out the Poverty Bend Pinot Noir. These two fellas planted the original blocks of fruit back in 2001. All these years later and we sure are grateful for the literal fruits of their labor.

Three very tired (but full of love and community) Lundeens. Another beautiful wine club pick up party is in the books! We didn’t take a single picture but loved being present and in the moment with the people who help make this dream possible. Thank you to everyone who came out to the farm today. You help make the magic of Poverty Bend Vineyard really shine.
