Fat Hill Brewing, a 7-barrel craft brewery, opened downtown Mason City this December. Its brewing facility and taproom in the long-vacant historic building at 17 N. Federal Avenue features sixteen taps, space for 140 patrons, and a variety of live music and special events. Fat Hill Brewing got its name after we realized Cerro Gordo means Fat Hill in English. We wanted a name that would have a spec

ial meaning to locals but also be appealing to visitors and we think we found the perfect one. The taproom sells pints, flights, crowlers, growlers, and kegs on request. Please see Tap Room page on our website for info about holding your next private event with us.

LaHa Sisters Food Truck
LaHa Sisters is a family-run food truck rooted in tradition and real flavor. The ladies started the truck in honor of their grandfather Victor's beloved restaurant La Hacienda. They serve Tex-Mex food from recipes passed down through generations. The menu this time includes tacos, nachos, tostadas, and more. They’ll be parked outside the brewery near City Hall. Feel free to enjoy your food in the park, on the patio, or inside while you listen to the music.

Brian Herrin
Brian Herrin is a classically trained singer-songwriter now living in Iowa. Originally from Illinois, he has shared the stage with such acts as The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Vertical Horizon, Tonic, Carly Rae Jepsen, Sister Hazel, CLOVERTON and Jordan St. Cyr. In 2008, he co-founded the band Decoy. From 2008-2015, he performed hundreds of shows and recorded two albums with the Des Moines based pop rock group. His latest album came out in 2024.

Next week is our 2nd annual Spelling Bee! Tuesday, June 9, at 7 pm. Hosted by a local English teacher, our fun and casual competition will pit individuals against each other to determine who is the best speller in town. The winner can celebrate their nerdy victory with a $25 Fat Hill gift card. The Bee starts at 7 pm so just come a few minutes before to make sure you’re on the sign up sheet at the bar. There is no fee to participate. Not a great speller? Come and watch the competition and cheer on your favorites!

Oh Yum Food Truck
Saturday, 5 pm - 8 pm
Experience Slovakian and Hungarian specialties as well as some American favorites with the new Oh Yum Food Truck! This truck is known for their hand-breaded pork tenderloin, served Slovakian style with rice, and langos, which is fry bread with different toppings. American sides and desserts are also on offer! They will be parked outside the brewery near City Hall.

Inspired by favorites like Stevie Nicks, Janice Joplin, Miranda Lambert, and Taylor Swift, Liv McNair is ready to sing her heart out for you during her Fat Hill visit in May. Her mix of rock, country, and folksy pop will appeal to everybody in your friend group, so bring the whole gang. No admission fee.
