Announces Closing

This week, Chef/Owner Amy Chamberlain of The Perfect Wife Restaurant & Tavern, announced that their last meal will be served this Saturday, October 21, 2018. After 23 years in business, the Manchester native has decided to close her doors. The restaurant and tavern have been on the market for over a year, and with no prospective buyers, Chamberlain sees this move as “bittersweet” noting it is time for a change. The business will remain up for sale, and Chamberlain hopes that a future buyer will want to continue the tradition and lift up the legacy of this business, as a long-standing institution in Manchester.

The decision was not an easy one to make, as Chamberlain recognizes she leaves behind loyal customers, a mix of locals and visitors, who have supported the business for over two decades. With the news comes a spirit of deep appreciation for the hard work and commitment of her dedicated employees who have served The Wife’s patrons over the past 23 years. Chamberlain looks back with pride, having created a warm, inviting place serving “made-from-scratch” dishes; using ingredients sourced from local farms and purveyors.

Chamberlain is weighing her future plans and next steps, sharing that she is excited about being part of the community she calls home in a different capacity; one that allows her to have more time with her family and friends.

The Perfect Wife Restaurant & Tavern will be open for dinner this week from 4pm to 10pm. Patrons can enjoy signature dishes such as the Maple-Mustard Glazed Salmon or the Belgian Chocolate Brownie Sundae one last time.
