JT Walker’s proprietor Justin Taylor is a fourth generation Mahomet native. After returning to his home state, Taylor decided that he wanted to open a restaurant in Central Illinois. When the Village of Mahomet passed the Liquor License law, making the once dry town now wet, he saw the perfect opportunity to open a place in his hometown. The beautiful brick building at 401 E. Main St. was just the right place to house JT Walker’s Restaurant & Sports Bar. Built in the late 1800’s this historic building has been the face of Mahomet almost since the village’s inception.
JT’s opened in downtown Mahomet in July, 2008. After three years of working to help cultivate the local foodie and craft beer culture, Taylor decided to take the next step by opening a microbrewery. After two years of tumultuous work and planning JT Walker’s Brewery opened in November, 2013. Located across the street from the restaurant, the brewery adds another aspect to the increasingly evolving Main Street District in Mahomet. Be sure to also checkout our Rooftop Patio and the Barrel Room for special events. Our mission is to be an establishment locals can be proud of as well as a destination getaway for out-of-towners. We want our guests and friends to enjoy themselves at JT Walker’s Restaurant & Brewery, so let us know if there is anything you need. Thank you for supporting independent businesses and especially local breweries, where local beer is always the freshest beer.
