Thank You! 🥂 The Intoxicologist's Table launched last Thursday evening with The Literary Table, and I need to tell you what happened. And it was perfect!

Zadie Smith. The late Maya Angelou and Angela Carter. Three (3) women writers paired with cocktails that matched their complexity and their courage. Every drink was presented twice, once with spirits, once without, because everyone deserves a seat at this Table.

We laughed. We tasted. We talked. We shared. We stayed longer than planned because the conversation was that good! The ladies who attended had much to contribute and were filled with enriched personal experiences, curiosity, boldness, and enlightenment.

Madison, something this way comes...
I've been tending bar for decades. I've poured thousands of drinks and heard twice as many stories. Now, I want to create something different....

The Intoxicologist's Table (https://www.bartender608.com/upcoming-events) inaugural series begins March 26th, and I'm inviting you to be part of the first one, gratis!

Here's how it's going to go down that Thursday:

✨The Literary Table | Women Writers & Their Legendary Libations (March = Women's History month)!
✨ 30 people (that's it, that's all)
✨ 3 cocktails honoring women writers (Let's start with Zadie Smith, Angela Carter, & Maya Angelou, shall we?)
✨ 75-90 minutes
✨ Each cocktail presented with BOTH alcoholic and non-alcoholic versions; you're welcome to try one type or both
✨ Attendees can listen AND SHARE cultural stories, experiences, grievances, poems, cocktail recipes, and thoughtful conversation

Here's what it is NOT:
❌ Not a bar crawl
❌ Not a happy hour
❌ Not a lecture

This is a salon-style gathering where craft, culture, and community can come together. Because after 30 years in this business, I know hospitality is about making people feel seen, valued, and connected.

It’s National Margarita Day & yes, we've been celebrating

…But not in the way you may think. At Bartender 608, we've been making MockaRitas (full presentation, fully elevated), non-alcoholic margaritas using NA tequila alternatives like Ritual and Free Spirits that actually taste like the real thing, garnished like the real thing, and served with the same bona fide duty and intention as anything coming off the bar.

Because here's what the industry already knows, even if your local event calendar hasn't caught up yet: The non-alcoholic spirits market crossed $11 billion globally and is still accelerating. Gen Z drinks 20% less than Gen Y did at their age, and Gen Y are drinking less than my people, Generation X. Major alcohol producers are posting inventory losses while simultaneously scrambling to launch their own NA lines — because the consumer has already moved. Add import tariffs squeezing the cost of traditional spirits inventory, and you start to understand why the smartest beverage operators in the country are diversifying their bar programs right now.

This is not a trend. It's a structural shift. Liquor consumption is steadily sliding after the steep hill of the 80s. Hard Seltzers & Canned cocktails are in the now, as is legalized re**er in certain states. Health-conscious responsibility is now more forefront at home, and when out & about socially, and for work.

And the guests at your next event, be it wedding, corporate, gala, festival, housewarming, et al? The ones who are pregnant, sober, designated driving, sober-curious, religiously abstinent, or simply choosing not to drink? They deserve a top-shelf experience & relevant options at the bar. Not an afterthought. Not coffee. Not water. Not a Sprite with a lime. A MockaRita with ½ a salted rim, fresh citrus, and a garnish always makes guests feel exactly as celebrated as everyone else at the party.

That's what we do. That's what we've always done. So, Happy National Margarita Day, people. Everybody's invited to this bar.

Today, we remember Juneteenth as a promise that took far too long to deliver.

This isn't just a day of remembrance or celebration—it's a call to action. Freedom delayed is freedom denied.

We mark this day not only to honor when the shackles were legally broken, but to also confront the systems that quietly replaced them.

We were not born to suffer under the weight of silence or oppression.

We are not asking for freedom—we are claiming it. Not tomorrow. Not when it's convenient. Now.

We don't beg for liberation. We forge it.

And though the law may have changed, we know justice still has a long journey ahead.
