We had a Breedlove come in with the heel of the neck pulling away from the body. Breedlove bolts there necks on. We carefully heated the tongue of the fingerboard and used a metal spatula Ben made to loosen the glued down tongue. We then removed the bolts. We found the problem, One of the inserts pulled loose from the heal, see photo.
We removed it, epoxied in a mahogany dowel rod, cut it flush then reinstalled the insert.
After cleaning the old glue off of the tongue of the fingerboard and area under it on the top, we reinstalled the neck.
After that, we dressed the frets and set it up,
Plays great now.
All sounds easy, and it is if you have nearly 30 experience in repair and restoration and have made over 100 acoustic guitars.
We love what we do. Thanks for reading..

At Zeiler Knight string instrument repair, all repairs are taken seriously, from restringing and set ups to major restoration.
Here we have a 1929 0028k Hawaiian guitar made for slide only. We are converting it to a standard fretted player.
In these photos we are showing the old bridge plate we removed and the bridge being reglued along with a new bridge plate underneath (unseen) in the photo for obvious reasons.
There was a crack through the top the Length of the bridge on the sound hole side of the bridge. The owner was using an archtop tailpiece to create less stress on the top to compensate for the crack. The new bridge plate is moved slightly forward to cover and repair the crack. The original bridge is being glued back on.
The photo of the fingerboard shows the non radius board with flush frets.
Next we will remove the bar frets, radius the fingerboard and install new bar frets.
After that we reset the neck and reinstall.
More photos will be posted as work progresses.

Fret dress on a 1957 reissue Stratocaster. Fingerboard is taped off in between the frets to protect the finish.
The job is done when the frets are leveled, crowned, then highly polished.

The finished bridge made it from Indian rosewood. Under neath is a new maple bridge plate. Both replaced because of a plastic ebony looking bridge and badly warped bridge plate. This guitar is ready to sell. 1963 J45
All original except what is mentioned above. Not a lot can be done when Gibson makes an obsolescent bridge that gives no support to the top, hence the bridge plate warpage. All good now, and this guitar plays and sounds great.
