📜 Our First Labor Day at The House

Well, we can officially put this one in the Ledger. 🖋️

Our very first Labor Day at Ledger & Proof was a wonderful success! 🙌

Madam had the pleasure of meeting so many new guests, while also seeing so many familiar faces throughout the morning.
Many of you arrived in exceptionally good spirits — and not merely the sort we keep behind the bar. 🥃

There was such a wonderful energy in The House that morning, and Madam found it rather difficult not to enjoy herself immensely. ❤️

Thank you to everyone who popped in for a cocktail, a small bite, a bit of parade watching, and some good company.

Seeing The House so lively on our very first Labor Day was something rather special.

And since several of you have already inquired as to whether we shall be doing this again next year...

Yes, we most certainly will. 🇺🇸

The keys will be hanging this Monday, September 7th, for Labor Day! 🗝️🇺🇸

The House will be open before, during, and for a little while after the parade — which just so happens to pass directly in front of our doors. 🇺🇸

We’ll be opening bright and early at 8:00 AM with some delightful specials:

🍅 $8 Bloody Marys

🍺 $4 Beers — Goose Island 312 & Bell’s Two Hearted

And, of course, we’ll have our famous Espresso Martini & newly added Cappuccino Martini ☕🍸 and our full cocktail menu ready behind the bar.

📜 On the Matter of Bourbon Heritage Month 🇺🇸

September is Bourbon Heritage Month — a proper occasion to celebrate the history and craftsmanship of America's Native Spirit.

The Keeper's usual weekly bottle pick is also getting a bit more ambitious.

I have been informed that one bottle simply will not do.

So, each day The House is open throughout September, The Keeper will select a different bottle from the shelves for a featured pour.

There may be familiar names.
There may be harder-to-find bottles.
There may be a few surprises.

Madam will not be announcing them.
The Keeper has decided that if you wish to know what he's pulled from the shelves that evening... you'll simply have to come see for yourself. 🧐🥃

Today, however, we'll give you the first one... something high sought-after and rather difficult to come by:

📜 A Brief Interlude Between Seasons

Madam has noticed there seems to be some eagerness to rush directly into autumn.

Pumpkin. Apple. Spice. 🍂

But one small matter remains...

It is, in fact, still summer.🧐

And Madam prefers that things proceed in their proper sequential order.

Summer first.
A proper transition.
Then autumn may have its turn.

So, while The House prepares the Fall Ledger, we have opened something a little different.

The Reserve Ledger — a temporary collection of premium expressions of familiar favorites, along with a few new entries worthy of their own page.

Consider it the bridge between seasons: a little richer, a little more indulgent, and quite appropriate for these final weeks before autumn officially takes over.

And then there is one small entry Madam advises you not to overlook. 🫒

The Olive Snack.

A pair of hand-stuffed queen olive skewers — one filled with blue cheese and one with pimento cheese — both made in house.

A proper martini companion, and perhaps one of our favorite little additions to the Ledger.

The Reserve Ledger is now open at The House — for a limited time, while autumn patiently awaits its turn.

📜 The Cocktail Ledger Has Been Amended

Madam asked guests of The House a rather simple question:

If ONE Seasonal Feature could earn a permanent place on the cocktail menu, which would you save?

The nominations were made.
The votes were cast.

And two entries made themselves rather difficult to ignore. 👀

🍌 Banana Dossier

It seems you are not quite ready to part with either.

Fortunately, neither is Madam. 🖋️

Both have officially earned a permanent place on the Ledger & Proof cocktail menu.

But before we close this particular entry...

There is one final matter to address.

And by the way, Kim... 🌹

Madam happened to notice your admission that the Strawberry Rose Cosmo may be your favorite drink of all time — followed by your rather unfortunate conclusion that “it had no chance of winning.” 😂

We have some good news.
It didn't have to. 😏

🌹 The Strawberry Rose Cosmo is staying, too.
