I am a military veteran, having proudly served in the Wyoming Army National Guard. The military taught me discipline, accountability, and the importance of serving something larger than myself. Those lessons have stayed with me throughout my life and throughout my law enforcement career.
I was born and raised right here in Big Horn County. I grew up in Cowley, graduated from Rocky Mountain High School, and spent the first 30 years of my life on the north end of the county. Later, I moved to Greybull to begin my law enforcement career, where my wife and I raised our children and built our lives. Because of that journey, I have deep roots, friendships, and family connections throughout both the north and south ends of Big Horn County.
For the past 18 years, I have dedicated my career to public service. I started as a patrol officer with the Greybull Police Department, spent more than 13 years serving as a Deputy Sheriff with the Big Horn County Sheriff's Office, and today I have the privilege of serving as the Chief of Police for the Town of Greybull.
Throughout those years, I have worked patrol, investigations, emergency response, training, leadership, and interagency operations. I have served on specialized teams, instructed fellow officers, and worked alongside local, state, and federal partners. I served as a Lead Fi****ms Instructor, Use of Force Instructor, Less Lethal Instructor, and Emergency Response Team member. I also served as a sniper instructor and worked extensively in tactical operations and critical incident response. In addition to those responsibilities, I managed budgets and procurement for vehicles, fi****ms, and deputy equipment, ensuring our personnel had the tools they needed while being responsible stewards of taxpayer dollars.
Those experiences have given me a broad understanding of what it takes to keep our communities safe, support our deputies, manage resources responsibly, and maintain the trust of the people we serve.
If elected Sheriff, my philosophy will be simple.
The Sheriff's Office belongs to the people of Big Horn County.
I believe in being visible, approachable, and accountable. I believe in treating every citizen with respect, whether they live in Basin, Greybull, Lovell, Cowley, Byron, Deaver, Frannie, Burlington, or anywhere in between. I believe that strong relationships between law enforcement and the public are essential to maintaining safe communities.
I will focus on supporting our deputies, providing them with the training, equipment, and leadership they need to be successful. A Sheriff's Office is only as strong as the people serving in it, and I want our deputies to know they have a Sheriff who supports them, expects professionalism, and leads by example.
I also believe in communication and cooperation. Throughout my career, I have worked hard to build relationships with agencies across our county and neighboring counties. Public safety works best when agencies work together, share information, and focus on solving problems rather than protecting territory.
Most importantly, I will make decisions based on what is best for Big Horn County. At this point in my career, I am not looking for the next promotion or the next stepping stone. I am running because I care about this county, its people, and its future. I am fortunate to be in a position where my decisions can be guided by what is right for the county and not by what is best for my career.
Big Horn County has given me and my family so much over the years. This community has shaped who I am, and it has been an honor serving my community.
