THE DORIS FILES: FILE NO. 1

Doris has opinions.

About your drink order.
About your posture.
About whether you closed the bathroom door with appropriate respect.

But most of all, Doris has opinions about outfits.

This first official Doris File comes from our OLB Writer’s Circle, where writers helped build the strange, conflicting, and possibly haunted mythology of the woman in the bathroom portrait.

Today’s question:

Would Doris approve of the outfit you're wearing?

Please answer carefully. She is almost certainly listening.

OLB is walking in the Pride parade, and we’d love for our community to walk with us.

Our shirts say Pride on Tap, a Pride-season twist on Community on Tap, because the taproom we’re building is one where q***r and trans folks are welcome, celebrated, and safe all year long.

Come for the music. Stay to see if Doris approves of your outfit.

Pride attire encouraged.

We suggest you show up early and order an International Snacks Pairing so long as you're not allergic to shellfish.

You have questions. That is reasonable.

Doris is the woman in the portrait in the OLB bathroom. We do not know where she came from. We do not know what she wants. We only know that she watches, judges, and has become emotionally important to us as a business.

Recently, the OLB Writer’s Circle began the sacred and deeply irresponsible work of documenting everything we can find out about this woman.

Writers were given prompts like “Doris died…” and “Doris can’t stand…” Then each person had two minutes to write before passing the story to the next writer, who had to continue whatever beauty, grief, or nonsense had just been handed to them.

The result: several competing accounts of Doris’s life, death, afterlife, romantic history, political affiliations, cosmetic concerns, and opinions about chiffon.

Some may be true.
Some may be false.
Some may be legally difficult to explain.
The first Doris File drops soon.

Community on Tap means more than what happens inside our walls.

That’s why we’re proud to help sponsor free Yoga in Central Park this summer, right across the street from the brewery. Because sometimes community looks like gathering over a pint, and sometimes it looks like realizing your hips have not forgiven you for 2007.

Join Friends of Central Park on Saturdays at 10 AM, June through August, for free community yoga led by Yani Nikole of Old Louisville Jiu-Jitsu Academy.

All skill levels are welcome, from “I do yoga every week” to “I own stretchy pants and I’m willing to see where this goes.”

Bring a mat, bring water, dress comfortably, and come enjoy a little movement in one of the best parks in the neighborhood.

Big thanks to Friends of Central Park and everyone helping make free community programming possible.

Louisville said, “What if the air had a texture?”

We said, “Freeze pops.”

House made, delightfully chilly, and only $5.

Come get one before you become one with the humidity.

To beer, or not to beer?

Silly question. It’s ShakesBEER weekend.

Join us this Saturday in Central Park for Kentucky Shakespeare’s As You Like It, with beer from Old Louisville Brewery, Monnik, Noble Funk, and West Sixth. No tickets required, and $1 from each beer purchase supports Kentucky Shakespeare, which means your excellent taste is also technically philanthropy. Very noble. Very dramatic. Very on brand.

The brewery tents open at 6 PM with food trucks and live music, and the show starts at 8 PM.

Come early, grab a pour, find your spot, and prepare to enjoy a beautiful evening of comedy, community, and just enough Shakespeare to feel cultured.

Today’s the day to bring us your cuttings, your seedlings, your mystery porch plants, and that one propagated pothos you swore you were going to give away three months ago.

It’s Plant Swap at Old Louisville Brewery from 6–9 PM.

Bring a plant. Take a plant. Trade a plant. Admire everyone else’s plants with the seriousness of a Victorian botanist. All levels of plant parenthood welcome, from “I have a greenhouse” to “I once killed mint.”

Come hang, swap some greenery, and maybe leave with a new leafy little roommate.
