It takes a village: PART TWO 🍺🍺

Switching to writing in a first person pov bc I’m kinda tearing up right now. I mean, going through so many photo albums has me feeling heaps of emotion. I guess it’s true when they say you can’t have joy without sadness.

Saying goodbye to this family isn’t going to be easy, but the memories we’ve made together amongst coworkers & customers alike will last for many years to come.

For many, Angel City was 2nd home. A lot of us have been here for a long time, that’s not something you see too often in the hospitality world. And it didn’t matter if you were our most loyal regular or our biggest skeptic, you were always welcome to a beverage at our house.

Speaking for the entire Angel City staff, I just want to thank you for your support over the years, LA. You always meant an awful lot to us, and I hope that whenever you came to visit you knew that.

It takes a village: PART ONE 🍺

This was originally supposed to be one post, but after sitting here sifting through thousands of photos over the past week, 20 images just ain’t gonna cut it.

You know, there are a lot of elements that go into creating a place like Angel City. And as corny as it’s going to sound, our key ingredient was always the people. There are no words to encapsulate the efforts put into this brewery by the hundreds of hands that have passed through these doors, but let’s try anyways.

To our Angel City family, past & present:

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for bringing every piece of you to work every day. You were more than bartenders, chefs, barbacks, greeters, managers & brewers of this place, you were this place. You are and forever will be a piece of the beating heart of DTLA - every effort you poured into this place impacted our community in ways that are impossible to quantify. You welcomed LA with open arms for a near 15 years, and as evidenced by the outpouring of love and memories shared online over the past few weeks, LA remembers all of that.

You are Angel City, you are LA.

For we’re tapping up an ACB favorite, Olvera Street Mexican Lager 🇲🇽

Beer is art & culture in liquid form, and this brew is a special one for us as an homage to the 1781 settlement of El Pueblo de Nuestra Señora La Reina de los Ángeles del Rio de Porciúncula, the original “Angel Town” that would eventually become the city we call home.

This can features art from local LA artist - we’re really going to miss the ArtShare beer series, providing space for local artists has truly been one of the greatest pleasures of this crazy ride.

The brewers might even try to can a handful of packs for old times’ sake, but regardless you can swing by and enjoy this excellent Mexican Lager on tap til it’s gone for good.

Starting this week we’re partnering with the Downtown Women’s Center on a clothing drive - through the end of march, you can support DWC’s efforts to end homelessness by donating items from the requested list below:
 
•Deodorant
•New or gently used clothing (no tears, stains, or smells. All used items should be laundered since last use)
•Hoodies
•Windbreakers
•Leggings
•Jeans
•Sweatpants
•Long-sleeve shirts
•T-shirts
•Hand warmers
•New underwear
•Toiletry items (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, etc. travel or full size)
•Umbrellas
•New baseball hats
•Adult backpacks
 
The Downtown Women’s Center ends homelessness by providing safe housing and supportive services centered on wellness, employment, and advocacy. If you, too, are committed to a future where every woman has a safe home, a supportive community, and the dignity of belonging, we hope you’ll join us in making whatever contribution to this cause, big or small - it all adds up.

RESTOCK ALERT 🚨

When we announced our April 30th closure date, y’all showed up, showed love, and bought nearly all of our merch!

There are still a handful of other wearables, tin tackers & glassware available, but we’re restocking a few of the hotter items and just got a fresh shipment of our retro logo tees!

Due to low volumes, these tees will only be available in store at our taproom, not online.
