A lot has changed in the world since we closed our doors on March 15 in compliance with local and state COVID-19 guidelines. At the same time, sadly, not enough has changed for Black people in America. We have been outraged by the murder of another Black person, George Floyd at the hands of the Minneapolis police and the continued violent response by police against those seeking justice through protests across the country. We stand in solidarity with our Black employees and patrons and we stand against racism in all its forms. BLACK LIVES MATTER!
Every day we have received notes and messages from our wonderful community active in local protests marching down our street and past
While we’re still not certain when we’ll be reopening as a business, we want our community to know that our doors will be open beginning from 1 pm onward on Monday, June 8 and Tuesday, June 9 to safely offer water, shelter, toilets, masks and sanitizer to any courageous demonstrators on route to or from any of the local protests in support of the BLACK LIVES MATTER movement. We offer nothing for sale but we offer our “home” to our brothers and sisters who have so boldly risen up to demand justice; to demand change. We intend to stream the Houston memorial for and we hope to see old friends and meet some new friends.
Keep rising.
Don’t stop.
We stand with you.
Oh, and when we do finally reopen for business, whenever that may be, if you’re still unsure where you stand on this issue or the cause of don’t bother coming back. We don’t want your business. And we mean that as disrespectfully as possible. 👋
