The Pop-Up at El Chavo Silverlake Pop-Up restaurant with partner's Philip Frankland Lee of Scratch|Bar and Gadarene Swine, Executive Chef Alex Carrasco, Cocktail Academy's Brandyn Tepper.

Silver Lake’s historic El Chavo restaurant stands as the backdrop for an exciting Pop-Up restaurant experience featuring partners Cocktail Academy and Chef Phillip Frankland Lee, Executive Chef and Owner of Scratch|Bar & Kitchen and The Gadarene Swine. Fresh off the 13th season of Top Chef: California, Chef Phillip, along with his Executive Chef Alex Carrasco from Mexico City, lead the culinary o

perations. Chef Alex, who has worked as Executive Chef at Mo-Chica and Blue Tavern in Santa Barbara, will be the Pop-Up's Executive Chef, collaborating with Chef Phillip on an authentic Mexican-focused menu. The menu features a Chef’s Choice Family-Style Dinner, which is uniquely created for entire tables based on appetite, preferences and food allergies ($40 or $70/person). Other offerings include Mixiote de Res – braised short ribs with frijole puree, jalapeño – and Molotes with tinga, mushrooms and rajas – among the smaller, more sharable bites. Pastry Chef Margarita Lee is also a new consulting member of the El Chavo team, adding Mexican desserts like Horchata Panna Cotta with dulce de leche and tamarind granita and Pastel de Polenta with corn ice cream and popcorn to the new menu.
