After our last ever brunch, we had a prom. Our last dance together.

Here are photos by our neighbor (a brief bar bb in 2020, those two glorious weeks in March!) **wet eyes** we love you, Mikee! don’t know where you’re gonna get backup ice now …

We were joined by extended family — past angels of ADB + and more. We ate brisket from , chivis from and pizza from (Tommy, who also provided the photo booth!). A big-ass sheet cake from Chinatown. worked behind his bar for the last time. Some of us crawled on the bar …

It has been so very strange to not be open, our zebra curtains drawn. We miss you a whole lot. Last Thursday’s sidewalk sale was an unbalanced cocktail of feelings. But there’s a comfort knowing that are plates are in your homes, our pots and pans (marked “All Day Baby” on the bottom!) are in some of your restaurants, especially at our extended family’s,

Okay, photos pt. 1, this bright team of originals, who kept me young, taught me plenty and loved each other — some of these groupings are like, “ADB Day 1” and “Helluva Time” etc lol

P.S. this team, led by .mixtizo, produced an “All Day Baby Yearbook” for me (yes, folks, I was a yearbook editor in high school!) and IT IS SIGNED 100 times over, I think even by — the courage finally gets summoned tonight, and I will get in this memory book and read and feel and be grateful it all even happened 🪽💕💕

An “All Day Baby-shaped hole in the heart of all who had a chance to go”!!!! 😭 What an unexpected post in (“Best Things Editors Ate”) tysm — seriously, thank you for waiting that day 💕💕)

If you’re swinging by the sale today, PLEASE BRING bags, boxes, packing paper — anything to carry your fragile items away with you!

TODAY * THURS 12/19 * 12-4PM

We have soooo many plates + bowls (50 cents to $3.50 each), you could literally open several restaurants, or host brunch + dinner parties for 100ppl (like we used to!). It is a Japanese brand called Common — and we have dark blue, gray blue and some white. All of it will be 80% the price we paid for them, many are unused! The plates are all over our IG in case you’ve already forgotten …

We have silverware by Knork! Forks, knives, several spoons (small, big, soup!). 20 cents each!

We have the iconic ADB silverware caddies (which hold napkins + menus, too!) designed by the talented - $35 each

We have a few pots + pans by and branded “All Day Baby” on the bottom!

We have unopened bottles of liquor! Some bottles of wine!

We have 8oz bottles of: Tigre Hot Sauce, Salsa Roja and Salsa Verde ($8). We have Smoked Maple Syrup ($15). We have only a few pints of: Strawberry Jam, Blueberry Compote and Pimento Cheese.

Jorge made EGGNOG last night! It is bottled!

Thick-sliced house-smoked bacon — 8 slices per package for $12.

We have some glassware, all $1.50 to $5 each!

We have takeout containers, plastic ware, paper napkins

If you want to buy the ADB pendant lights by , I’ll be taking names for Heather, price TBD; two sconce light fixtures from the bathrooms, too (email: [email protected])

Well, we did it (barely!). Inspiration being the key ingredient — and the glorious souls we surrounded ourselves with gave it the flavor we all crave. Friendship, collaboration, loss, resilience, magic, all the wild ideas, remedies, let’s-just-try-this-one-thing-and-see … it’s how we passed the time.

Thank you for the fondest farewell a baby girl restaurant could ever hope for.

We can’t believe it either: Two more days. Eight hours today and (hopefully) another eight hours tomorrow. It feels like we’ve smushed five years of business into four weeks. It’s been a doozy of adrenaline, an infinite amount of gratitude, a mixed bag of feelings, and not too much broken glassware? “Arithmetic has no mercy” is a line I plucked out of the TV series “Rome” — and I have sooooo much to say about this, but now is not the time!

The pastry team is exactly two ppl, and their names are Sam and Lesley, and they are not supported by robots, and it is *truly* *truly* amazing to see what they’ve been able to produce given the surge in attention to biscuits and pastries. But this is also why these items are not available for online ordering, and there is a limit of two a la carte biscuits per takeaway! We really want to be able to break biscuit with ALL OF YOU — thank you so much for understanding! We may run out of things, too, because this is like an Everything-Must-Go kind of going-out-with-a-cry sale. Is this how we’re supposed to do it??

We are a mini army of people pleasers for real tho, and we don’t know what today’s wait list or parking situation will be like (maybe ride-share, my boos!), but know that we want to take care of you really badly, and we’re extremely happy that you chose to spend your time with us this weekend ❤️🩵💛 WE WILL NEVER FORGET ❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️

Never been tasked to “thoughtfully” close down a restaurant (like all the way) … and lots of question marks and panicked exclamation points fill our thought bubbles at present. There is pressure and grief and immense pride and joy, and what we can say is we are overwhelmed by your response to our closure, and even more meaningfully, touched by your in-person visits to the restaurant. To the EXTREME KINDNESS and patience and celebration you’ve extended to us — lord knows, we will miss you so much, too. I hope that you and your children will never forget this place. I hope the same for the individuals who have powered this place with their care for the past five years. I trust that many of these relationships will last much longer than the structure itself. Forever even.

Six more days. We are planning for it, and we are baking and smoking and brewing and frying and borrowing more mezcal from our sister restaurant and even upgrading the breaker so the pastry case can just stay lit … but we will see what happens. It pleases me to the moon that this team gets to feel it in their tired glorious bones the value of their impact and talent. Thank you for showing up for them the way that they’ve showed up for me even on the grimmest of days. It’s getting so very real over here … after today, just 9 more days of All Day Baby. I love this angle of the LT’s Hot Catfish Sandwich! Speaking for myself, I always need an extra side of mustard aioli. The potato bun makes it feel posh af 😭✨✨ thank you for this 😻

Tonight is the “101 Best Restaurants” reveal party, and our sister will be pumping out a snack that holds meaning at both restaurants, a special nod to the origin story of my life-changing partnership with JW.

We are still rendered verklempt that All Day Baby, a little gal among such delicious deities, has always appeared on this list … (and oh to those Covid years when the list was alphabetical lololol). Now, with only 13 days left of this restaurant’s life, it’s that much more important that our former “spot” gets filled with an independent restaurant that I KNOW would really benefit from your attention and appetite. Sometimes, it’s a matter of open doors, wonder and nourishment included. You kept ours open for a long time, and we thank you forever, really and truly.

Thank you so much to for including us in your mornings for all these years. Thank you to for eating every form of fried chicken we’ve ever served (and more!!). Thank you to who spoke to me for this closing story and transcribed both my tears and words.

And most of all, thank you to ALL OF YOU, the droves who’ve come in to celebrate this restaurant and the glorious humans who make it what it is every day — til its last day.

like the weather here (77 degrees today!), didn’t mean to take this Michelada for granted … but wow, I’d forgotten just how good (choose Modelo Especial or Negra or ; virgin available too!)

also our strawberry jam, our fries, even the chicken tenders meant for kids of all ages
