Founded by Encarnacion Elias Gomez in 1929, she created a place infused with the spirit of Mexico, contributing to Los Angeles' rich cultural hist

ory. In 1997, the family turned the reins over to Sean MacPherson of Committed, Inc. Inspired by summers spent with his grandma in Guadalajara, MacPherson used his exceptional eye for detail and design to renovate the interior, celebrating the colorful history of the Lucha Libre wrestlers. Step through the thick red curtain and you feel as if you had walked into a little bar in Mexico that never existed. Here, under an intricately mosaic-barreled ceiling is a mix of locals, first dates, and celebrations of old friends and new.
