🗓️Tonight, join us for our first Double Feature Throwback Movie Night @ Tippitiwichit. We’ll be watching ‘A BUCKET OF BLOOD’ (1959) followed by ‘WHILE PARIS SLEEPS’ (1932) on our 98 inch screen! Two unique films from very different eras of cinema.
Infamous director Roger Corman was known for his filmography of low budget, cheesy horror films. ‘BLOOD’ though, was his first swing at a true horror comedy. Made for $50,000 and shot on the same sets as ‘LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS’ (1960), the film plays as a satire of the genre of film Corman was known for making. The film follows a sculptor, whom after accidently killing his landlady’s housecat, covers the remains in clay and passes them off as a new sculpture. This work takes off, sending him on a murder spree to keep up with demand.
Meanwhile, in 1932, Hollywood was moving away from silent films with the advent of new technology. ‘WHILE PARIS SLEEPS’ is an early talkie released pre-Hayes Code that follows a French war veteran who escapes imprisonment after being sentenced for killing a man. He flees, finding himself in Paris on the search to find his daughter. Though she believes him dead, he stands by her to protect her from falling into an unsavory lifestyle, all while keeping his identity a secret.
Will our two protagonists get caught up in their schemes? Which film will be better? Find out 6pm tonight @ Tippitiwichit!
NEXT WEEK: Join us on for a special Halloween presentation of George A. Romero’s ‘NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD’ (1968) followed by a surprise horror classic!
