While we love to welcome your fur babies, you know your dog's behavior and habits better than us. If your dogs social behavior is unpredictable please do not use our taproom as testing grounds. As a courtesy to all patrons, especially with those with sensitivies, we ask you call ahead before bringing your doggos inside. If the fur starts to fly, literally or figuratively, we'd hate to ask you to leave.

I have to say, this Thanksgiving is bittersweet with the closing of Bascule Brewery and Public House .
We did some pretty awesome stuff over the years. We held fundraisers, gave food to the poor, held food, clothing and toy drives.
And we had fun! We made really festive seasonal beers that became yearly tradition!
This year i feel the ache of no longer having those who I grew to love to welcome into the warm cozy familiar space of the brewery.
Nothing could ever replace our Thirsty Thursday Crew.
Its appropriate that Thanksgiving always falls on a Thursday, because those guys are the absolute best and if there's every a reason to look back and be grateful for the near decade we spent huddled around that marble tiled bar, surrounded by laughter, and food, as we measured time by the lacing on our glasses as the beers disappeared, it didn't get much better.
So I want to raise a glass to my Bascule family.
Thank you for the best years of my life.
Im sure down the road, we'll be clinking glasses again. But I want my Bascule Crew to know just how much they mean to me. I'll cherish those days forever.

Holy cow! What an emotional roller coaster! I have so many kind things to say for the people who showed one last show of support through our auction! I was so pleased to know that many of our items were going to our beloved friends patrons and supporters! I'm happy to know that some of the more sentimental items will live a very good life in new homes where they can be appreciated. That said there are still so many items that did not get entered into the auction and you can expect a second auction after the holidays! We are officially no longer in business! However you can look forward to a big Bascule Brewery and Public House family reunion down the road! Thank you once again to everyone for being part of this amazing journey! Please go out and support these amazing new businesses here in Lorain

Evening folks! Bascule Brewery and Public House will have the taps on from 6 til 10 tonight.( Saturday )As we have no specific final day, we're gonna run it til kegs run dry. With any luck we may squeak our a Xmas beer or 3 with possible future pop ups.
Tonight we're serving our BS Fest, Marshmallows Mocha Porter, and Harvest IPA.
We also have Black River Hard Ice Tea.

Today is our Farewell Gathering, giving all our patrons the opportunity to share in a pint one last time, as our remaining days are uncertain. We have been honored to have shared this journey with you.
As a reminder, today we will only be accepting cash, venmo and cashapp
Outside food and snacks are welcomed and encouraged as our kitchen operations have ended.

We want to extend our love and appreciation to all our dear friends and patrons as we navigate our final days before closure. This is a very difficult and bittersweet time as we reflect on 10 years of growth in the community.
We will be open today , Friday Nov 7 at 5 pm, and Saturday at 2pm We will only be able to accept cash, Venmo or Cashapp,

Sadly, we announce, we cannot prolong our closing any further.

We would like to formally extend an invitation to all our patrons, former employees, friends and supporters to our Farewell Gathering Saturday November 8th Starting at 5 pm. Join us as we turn the page on a nearly 10 year chapter, full of joys , celebrations, friendships, music, food and festivities.
Thursday, November 13th will be our final day, to pay honor to our most loyal group of regulars, our Thirsty Thursday Crew.
Then, our taproom will go dark.

We will continue manufacturing for as long as our budget allows us. We hope we can still live on the taps of your favorite local venues and in your beer fridge.
It has been an honor being part of Lorain's rebirth for the last decade. We hope to meet again someday a little further down the tracks.

Our Story...

Bascule Brewery and Public House started from humble beginnings. When owners Chris and Fred met they found they both had similar passions for their hometowns. Little did they know when they looked to the support of the community of Lorain that they would be doing something unprecedented for the industry. From generous contributions from friends, supporters, and craft beer drinkers alike they managed to bring forth Lorain’s first brewery to begin operations in over 100 years. From the first sponsorship board on the wall of supporters the floodgates have remained open. As contributor after contributor have come forth to be a part of a change in the community. In doing so the people have helped build one of the only breweries built on the support of its patrons instead of bank loans and investors. Bascule’s mission is to

“Raise the Bridge”

For all local businesses as well as become a central gathering spot for the community by incorporating local history, culture and creativity into every pint of beer they make.
