The name Tony J's Cantina on the Strip was coined by Manny Lopez and the idea for the logo was generated by Gilbert Amador. Tony J's "Cantina on the Strip" has a long South Lorain history. It was purchased from Pete Stanchak then known as Pete's Bar, prior to being Pete's bar it was known as the Flamingo's. Music was always an important part of how Tony J's entertained. ny J's was Joey Deleon until he moved to Florida. He was replaced by Walt Wade. After Walt Wade there was DJ Moving Disco followed by Willie D. Other DJ's that appeared were Mike Rivas, Jimmy Jam, General Jam among others. Tony J's sponsored several local teams such as slow-pitch softball, fast-pitch softball, flag football, volleyball, bowling leagues, and dart teams.
