Hi all! Important update about cancellation of street closures and wearing masks!

-- No Downtown Street Closures This Weekend and Face Coverings Order Will Be Enforced --

For the past few weeks, the City has closed Downtown streets on the weekends to support the Downtown economy and promote public safety. Unfortunately, it was observed that the street closures were rarely used for social distancing and adversely affected the Downtown businesses. According to a recent survey of our Downtown businesses, only 1 out of 4 felt that the street closures were beneficial to their business, with a majority of the businesses reporting losses. Since the street closures did not achieve the intended results, Downtown streets will remain open this weekend (August 8-9).

As the rate of cases in the County and in Livermore continues to rise, remember that regularly wearing a face covering is the single most important thing the public can do to slow the spread of COVID-19. To that end, effective now in Livermore, the use of face coverings will be enforced. City staff will be circulating Downtown reminding visitors to wear face coverings and social distance, handing out disposable face coverings to those in need. Face coverings are required at all times, except when eating or drinking at an outdoor dining table. Non-compliance with the face coverings order can result in a $100 citation for the first offense. Please wear your face covering to keep everyone safe and to allow our businesses to remain open. We will continue to remain flexible, monitor the situation, and make adjustments as needed.
