Normally, during a slow period, I would be hitting the books, but this year I’ve had my hands full with my recent promotion to director at the office. Also a lot of travels planned so I hope to check off a few more top 50’s and grab some inspo.

Anyway, with both the weather and bookings finally starting to heat up, I thought I would share my current favorite sip—
a crossover between two of my summer favorites.

✔️ .75 oz lemon juice
✔️ .75 oz strawberry syrup

I know I’ve been tagging the s**t out of lately (sorry) but there are just so many bangers in his book “The Cocktail Guy” and I’ve been having a lot of fun making them.

Also, just really psyched on this quick, lucky shot of a round of “Caramelized Red Onion Manhattans” I made for NYE last night.

Caramelized Red Onion Manhattan
✔️ 2 oz cask strength bourbon
✔️.75 oz carpano antica formula vermouth
✔️ 2 barspoons caramelized red onion reduction*
✔️ cocktail onion & sage leaf garnish

✔️ 200g castor sugar
✔️ 15g red onion extract
✔️ 1g sage leaves
✔️ 200g vodka

Pictured above is a recipe fully inspired and informed by / How to Be A Better Drinker’s “Junk Food Martini”

Chamberlain’s book on cocktail recipe’s and boozy etiquette offers many novel, yet surprisingly accessible recipes that can be done by co-opting one’s pantry into the bar. From communal punches to quirky infusions, it’s a fun read that deserves to be in your cocktail library.

Eager to begin my infusion, I quickly scoured my own pantry and found similar wares—though, instead of salt & vinegar chips, I found jalapeño ranch chips, as well as jalapeño garlic olives.

I’d like to think she’d approve.

Anyway, her recipe, then mine:

“Junk Food Martini” - Hannah Chamberlain/How to Be A Better Drinker

✔️ 3 oz salt & vinegar chip infused gin or vodka
✔️ .5 oz dry vermouth (optional)
✔️ splash of olive brine
✔️ bacon, blue cheese, garlic stuffed olives

My Junk Food Martini:

✔️ 2.5 oz jalapeño ranch chip infused vodka
✔️ .5 oz olive brine
✔️ 4 drops 80/20 saline
✔️ jalapeño/garlic stuffed olives
