It’s your last chance to enjoy PA games of skill at Parkview Hotel this weekend - until legal policies change again. This is a business that survived prohibition, and we have seen many laws come, go, and change over time. What games would you like to see instead? Or in the mean time? If you’re curious about the skill game disappearance here’s a brief bit of info:
The Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruled that skill games are classified as slot machines under state law, setting an enforcement deadline of October 13, 2026. After a 120-day stay granted in its June 15 decision, the court denied requests to extend the deadline on October 9, leaving businesses one week to remove the machines from bars, convenience stores, and social clubs. The State Police have warned that noncompliant devices can be seized starting October 14, with possible criminal charges. Skill games have operated in roughly 70,000 locations across Pennsylvania for years, with operators arguing that player skill differentiates them from traditional slots. The court disagreed, stating that the
2017 Gaming Act already covers hybrid machines regardless of skill elements.
