IN THEIR OWN WORDS - Mike and Vicki recently visited her nephew and brother at the original Little Pops in Maybrook, NY. What? You didn't know about the original Little Pops and the family connection behind how they stumbled their way into the pizza business during tough times? Here's the story in their own words...

MIKE: We had no clue what we were doing in this business.

VICKI: Stephen, my nephew, started slinging pizzas when he was 14, back in the East Coast. And then he ended up opening Little Pops after my grandfather, who was 5'4. That's why his nickname was Little Pops. My brother, years later, ended up going into business with him, so my brother, Louis, and Stephen run the original Little Pops in Maybrook.

MIKE: They gave us the playbook, told us what to do and how to do it. We just mimicked what they're doing in New York, back here in Illinois.

VICKI: Also there was Mike's grandmother's recipes he learned in his Uncle Tony's restaurant all those years. My grandmother, the gravy recipe, the meatballs, the Acini de Pepe soup. My brother and my nephew had the pizza recipe which came straight from New York...
