One week in on our annual Breakthrough T1D Nebraska (formerly JDRF) fundraiser. About 1.5 million Americans live with type 1 diabetes, and 1 in 31 families are impacted by it. Breakthrough T1D funds the research working to change that.

Every donation goes toward research to cure, prevent, and better treat type 1 diabetes.

Lunch: Patty Melt — pan-seared burger with melted Swiss cheese and sautéed onions, served on grilled pumpernickel bread.

Dinner: Red Pepper Chicken — hickory grilled chicken topped with a sweet spicy roasted red pepper sauce, garnished with julienned roasted red peppers and diced green chilies, served on a bed of white rice.

Before this year's campaign started, we asked Break Through T1D (formerly Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) to come talk to our staff. Last week, our teams met with Breakthrough T1D Nebraska and local families whose lives are shaped by type 1 diabetes. They shared their stories, answered questions, and helped us understand what funding research actually changes. Thank you!

Our annual fundraiser runs now through October 18. Ask your server how to donate at any Lazlo's or FireWorks Restaurant location.

When you eat local, you can give local too. On Wednesday, September 9th, our Lincoln locations are taking part in Dine Out to Help Out, raising funds for the Food Bank of Lincoln.

Did you know nearly 50,000 people across Southeast Nebraska face food insecurity? Almost 15,000 of them are kids. The Food Bank of Lincoln works to change that, distributing food at 29 locations every month and sending weekend meals home with around 2,370 students through their BackPack Program.

10% of proceeds on September 9th go straight to that work.

We're taking you to the Southwest and the French countryside with these gloablly inspired limited time specials. No passports required.

Lunch: Southwest Chicken Caesar Wrap — crispy chicken, diced tomato, parmesan cheese, Tex-Mex tortilla strips, romaine lettuce and a southwestern version of our classic Caesar dressing, all rolled together in a whole wheat tortilla.

Dinner: Chicken Dijon — marinated chicken breast, pan-seared with a creamy Dijon and Marsala sauce, garnished with arugula.
