Celebrate Dad in style this June 20th with an unforgettable Old Fashioned Cocktail Class. Guests will enjoy a guided, hands on experience crafting three unique variations of the classic Old Fashioned, paired with a tasting pour of our 12-Year Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. “There are bourbons that are good… and then there are bourbons that stop the conversation for a minute.

This 12-Year Single Barrel Kentucky Straight Bourbon from RD1 absolutely falls into the second category.

The palate is bold, layered, and beautifully balanced for a 122.7 proof cask strength bourbon. Waves of burnt caramel, maple syrup, and cinnamon roll hit first before evolving into darker notes of cocoa, charred oak, roasted pecans, and black cherry. Despite the proof, it drinks remarkably smooth with a rich, velvety mouthfeel that coats the palate without becoming overly hot or aggressive.

What really stands out is the depth. Every sip seems to unfold differently, revealing new layers as it opens up in the glass. A few drops of water bring forward even more sweetness and spice complexity.

The finish is long, warming, and memorable — lingering notes of toasted marshmallow, cracked pepper, oak spice, and dark toffee hang around long after the sip is gone.

Sharing newest cider on tap, Bourbon Cherry Wood, which rested on RD1 bourbon-soaked cherry wood.

This cider is punchy and rich with flavor! The cherry wood gives it a light zing and a stand-out body. Cheers, friends!

This limited release steps outside of the RD1 portfolio mash bill. Allspice mixes with oak and black pepper notes, later transcending into a warm caramel sweetness with hints of ripe peach and baked fruit. Notes of aged oak, to***co, leather and apple linger with whispers of earth and anise.

Father’s Day is June 21. Just sayin.

Move over, Mimosa. Meet the Strawberry Whiskey Sour…your new favorite companion for a shaded patio and springtime breeze.

2 oz RD1 KY Straight Bourbon Finished With French Oak
1.5 oz Strawberry Simple Syrup
1 oz Lemon Juice
1 oz Egg White

Dry shake first. Then, add ice, shake and strain. Garnish with a dried strawberry and aromatic bitters.

Sweet and tart. Refreshing and boozy. Patio worthy!

Do you know the meaning behind RD1?

In 1865, Ashland Distillery became the first federally registered distillery in Lexington, Kentucky, and was assigned the distinction of RD #1.

Later renamed the William Tarr Distillery, it was a powerhouse producer in the state until prohibition.

In 2020, Lexington entrepreneurs – awe-struck by the stories of these bourbon firsts – formed a new brand, RD1 Spirits, to keep the history alive and to help write the next chapter by specializing in wood-finished bourbon.

Today, RD1 has earned a spot on the famed Kentucky Bourbon Trail and all are invited to our new home in Lexington. Here, you’ll:
- walk through the RD1 forest and learn why we’re so fascinated with wood
- thieve bourbon from experimental barrels straight into your own bottle to take home
