Our 7-year-old single barrel Kentucky Straight Wh***ey Finished in a Jamaican Rum Barrel shows how barrel finishing can build on an aged wh***ey’s character. Here’s a closer look at the pour:

Age: 7 years
Finish: Rum barrel
Mouthfeel: Rich

Nose: Molasses, Jamaican rum, banana, toasted almonds, rye spice, and a hint of wintergreen.

Palate: Gingersnaps, ginger candy, cloves, rye spice, and cocoa.

Finish: Long, with pronounced tropical fruit notes of mango, pineapple, and guava, alongside spearmint.

At RD1, our science-forward approach explores how wood and barrel finishing influence aroma, flavor, and mouthfeel. This release brings together warm baking spice, rich molasses, and a strong tropical fruit finish.
