Hey friends, it’s time for Mondays with Melinda. ❤️
Truth be told… I don’t know much about pool.
Some may laugh and say, “You own a pool hall!” And that is true. But I have not always seen it the way someone who truly loves billiards sees it, the camaraderie, the competition, the joy, and the love of the game.
This weekend, I had the opportunity to meet Dr. Cue. He was funny, wise, and full of love... love for the game and love for life.
As he spoke, I could feel my emotions building. Dan could see it too.
Later, Dan asked me, “Why did he make you emotional?”
The answer came easily.
Because he loves life. He loves what he does. And he wants to share it.
At times, running a business can feel heavy. Yet somehow, I still love it. I have asked myself why many times. But while talking with Dr. Cue, the “why” became clear.
It is not just about business. It is not just about a restaurant or a pool hall.
It is about people.
The people who touch my life, and the moments I get to touch theirs. I could tell 13 years of stories about the people who have graced our doors at Legends, stories of laughter, friendship, struggle, growth, second chances, and love.
At Legends, you may see a beautifully plated meal or a delicious cold cocktail. I see the people behind it, each one skillfully singing their own song.
I see the cook putting care into every plate. The bartender creating connection and conversation. The server carrying kindness from table to table. The laughter around a pool table. The friendships formed inside our walls.
But more importantly, I see the challenges they have overcome to get there. I see the hard days, the growth, the courage, the second chances, the lessons learned, and the quiet strength it takes to keep showing up.
Printed on Dr. Cue’s calling card was Psalm 33:3:
“Sing unto Him a new song; play skillfully with a loud noise.”
Maybe that is what we are all called to do — to love life, to trust God, to use the gifts we have been given, and to play our song skillfully.
And maybe, in our own small way, that is what we are doing at Legends every day.
Much Love, Melinda ✨
