As many of you know, every October we do everything we can to give back to LOCAL FAMILIES in need. From donating to Vickie's Angel Foundation in New Cumberland to supporting members of our own HORN PUB family over the past two years, we've always believed that helping people right here in our community is what matters most.
And every year, no matter how much we're able to give, I always find myself wishing we could do more.
For those who don't know my story, back in 2011 we founded the Wiggity Wig Walk in support of my late wife, Leilani, who was battling breast cancer for 11 years. Sadly, we lost her to that terrible disease in 2021. She was an incredible woman, full of life, love, and laughter, and she left a mark on everyone lucky enough to know her.
So when I say that October, breast cancer awareness, and giving back means something to us, I mean it.
From the very beginning of the Wig Walk, our mission was simple: help real people, real families, right here in our community who are facing some of the hardest moments of their lives. That mission has never changed.
And this year, one of our own needs us.
Sarah Blaine, our lead server and front of house manager, has received some heartbreaking news. She's facing a difficult battle with kidney disease and will need a kidney transplant.
Sarah isn't just an employee. She's family. She's a leader, a friend, and someone who has given so much of herself to HORN PUB, our team, and our guests. While Sarah's battle isn't breast cancer related, the reason we give back every year has never been about just one disease. It's about the people we love and making sure nobody has to face life's hardest battles alone and worry about the financial impact on their life.
This October, 100% of the proceeds from our Pink Breast Cancer Awareness shirt sales will go directly to our friend Sarah to help with bills, medical expenses, and whatever else we can take off her shoulders. We may not be able to change what she's going through, but if we can make even one part of her journey a little easier, then we've made a difference.
We're also accepting donations in the jar at the bar, and we're sharing links for anyone who would like to give digitally below. Venmo is our preferred option for direct donations, but we've also set up a GoFundMe so we can reach as many people as possible.
And please know, no amount is too small. Whether it's $1, $5, buying a shirt, sharing this post, or simply sending Sarah some love and encouragement, it all matters. It all adds up.
I know we ask our community for support from time to time, and I never take that generosity for granted. The people who walk through our doors aren't just customers. You're the reason HORN PUB is what it is, and you've shown us time and time again just how big the hearts in this little community really are.
Let's come together and take care of one of our own. ❤️
And please mark your calendars for November 13th, when we'll be hosting a special benefit for Sarah at HORN PUB. More details to come!
Thank you for always showing up, supporting us and our community, for caring, and for helping us continue something that started in Leilani's honor.
Let's show Sarah just how much she's loved. ❤️
