Words from Canadian-American singer songwriter Scott Cook after his first US tour stop this week in Kalamazoo. Worth reading and pondering. We hope you can make it to his show at our place in a coupla weeks. 💚🎸

Did the first US show of this tour last night at the lovely 9 Roses Ranch outside Kalamazoo, and it warmed my heart. A lot of fellow Canadians (including my trusty sidekick Pamela Mae) won't travel down here anytime soon, for reasons I completely understand. But I'm also an American citizen, and as such, the lawlessness and grift of the current administration feel like my problem too. I want to be here, especially in the swing states and red states, to sing songs of hope and struggle, to hear what people are saying, and to contribute to that conversation however I can.

Last night brought back a lot of familiar feelings from our last US tour. Folks were incredibly generous and grateful. Some of them are feeling like hostages in their own country, especially when they're looking out at it through a screen. But something powerful happens when people get together. They don't all share the same politics, but they share values, and they share in all the deep human stuff that this system keeps trying to alienate us from.

Our so-called leaders are unworthy of the ordinary folks they claim to represent. And the rich and powerful don't even know the world they think they own. It's got more heart and grit than they can ever comprehend.

Much to our surprise, Janis Ian shared "Say Can You See" the other day, and I decided to sing it at every stop. I'm headed to Wheatland for the weekend, then Wisconsin, Minnesota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas, and I'd love to meet your people along the way.
