Remember these classic cafeteria favorites?

Some recipes never really go out of style. ❤️ These Lunch Lady-inspired comfort foods bring together the kind of hearty, simple dishes that remind you of old-school cafeteria lunches and cozy family dinners.

Here are 4 classics to save:

🥪 Sloppy Joes
Brown the ground beef, then simmer it with onion, tomato sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, mustard, vinegar, seasonings, butter, and beef broth until thick and saucy. Pile it onto toasted hamburger buns.

🍝 Lunch Lady Goulash
Cook the ground beef with onions, green pepper, garlic, paprika, tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, Italian seasoning, and beef broth. Add the macaroni and simmer until tender, then finish with sharp cheddar and parsley.

🥔 Creamy Mashed Potatoes
Boil Yukon Gold potatoes in salted water until fork-tender. Drain well, then mash with butter, sour cream, whole milk, garlic powder, white pepper, and salt. Finish with more melted butter and chives.

🍎 Apple Crisp
Toss Granny Smith apples with lemon juice, sugars, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Add the oat-and-butter topping and bake until the apples are bubbling and the top is golden and crisp.

Quick cooking guide

🔥 Sloppy Joes: simmer about 15–20 minutes after browning the beef.
🍝 Goulash: simmer the sauce before adding macaroni, then cook until the pasta is tender.
🥔 Mashed potatoes: boil for about 15–20 minutes, until fork-tender.
🍎 Apple crisp: bake at 350°F (175°C) for approximately 40–50 minutes, until golden and bubbling.

These are the kind of recipes that don't need fancy ingredients or complicated techniques—just good, comforting food. 😋

Which one brings back the most memories: Sloppy Joes, Goulash, Mashed Potatoes, or Apple Crisp?
