The end of summer always brings us rainy afternoons. With monsoon season in full effect, we bring you a sweet traditional mead made with Colorado clover blossom honey and the first commercial mead ever made with Aspen wood. As the nights get longer and the sun gets lower on the horizon, the trees start changing and you look for something to warm your bones, this is the mead for that.
A hint of cinnamon from the red clover honey and a subtle touch of woody sweetness from the Leadville sourced aspen. Stripped of bark and scored with a chainsaw, we tossed whole (steamed to sanitize) logs into the tank. It was a good idea.

New mead! A small batch made with Cape Gooseberries and our favorite, melon-forward hop, azacca. Tangy and hoppy with a touch of honey sweetness create a unique and delicious flavor we're sure you've never tasted before. Might last a week or two, get it while you can because due to the difficulty finding this fruit, we may never use it again.

This weekend Leadville celebrates the mining boom of the 1880s with all kinds of fun. Today we have a ton of motorcycle events, then mining competition events and the b***o race etc, happening all weekend.
We made a special mead for Boom Days. Inspired by the prohibition that hardly affected Leadville -the story says we were one of the few places that never really ran dry.
We brewed a whiskey inspired mead with mesquite blossom honey, Hungarian oak, and fortified with American whiskey to 15%
We have a small number (35) of these commemorative flasks available downtown, but they won't last. This is the only way to get this mead
We will be pouring free samples of several meads downtown Leadville, on the SW corner of 6th and Harrison Ave through Sunday. 🍻

Today (first Saturday in August) is international mead day! We celebrate mead every day but today is officially mead day! So crack open that cellar shelfie or go grab something new. We have some fantastic meads on tap, including this macadamia blossom traditional that spent 6 months in a whiskey barrel from Wood's mountain distillery in Salida. Butterscotch, caramel, toffee, and nutty honey mellow with a leathery, woody whiskey bite. 12.5% abv & the high side of semi-sweet. Only available at the Honey Hole taproom in Leadville.
