Le Mars Municipal Band The Le Mars Municipal Band puts on six concerts during the summer in Foster Park. This is the band's 118th season of free, public performances in the park!

The Le Mars Municipal Band has one of the strongest traditions of all the community bands in the state of Iowa, having been performing public concerts for over 100 years. The band is made up of professional and amateur musicians from the city of Le Mars and surrounding communities. The band presents 6 summer concerts during June and July at historical Foster Park. The concerts are free to the public courtesy of the City of Le Mars and friends and supporters of the band.

The Le Mars Municipal Band extends its sincere gratitude to Perspective Insurance for their generous donation, which made it possible for us to purchase new performance chairs for our musicians.

This investment will enhance the comfort and experience of our performers for years to come, helping us continue our mission of providing high-quality, free live music to the Le Mars community each summer.

With a generous grant from Perspective Insurance, the Le Mars Municipal Band has purchased new chairs. We will have the Carousel at Foster Park open from 5 to 7pm on Monday June 8th and the old chairs will be free to the public on a first come first serve basis. The chairs are in reasonable condition with some rust.

If you enjoy having free live music in our community each summer, please consider supporting the Le Mars Municipal Band. While we are grateful for the support provided by the City of Le Mars, more than half of our annual operating budget comes from donations and sponsorships from community members, businesses, and friends of the band.

Founded in 1907, the Le Mars Municipal Band has provided over a century of musical excellence, bringing generations together through outstanding performances in our parks and public spaces. Your support helps us purchase music, maintain equipment, and continue this cherished tradition for future generations.

The Le Mars Municipal Band is excited to share our 2026 summer performance schedule! Join us for an outstanding season of music—all concerts are FREE and held at Foster Park in Le Mars, IA.

🎶 Exciting News from the Le Mars Municipal Band! 🎶

We are proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Christopher Brandt as the new Musical Director of the Le Mars Municipal Band.

A native of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Dr. Brandt brings a wealth of experience as an educator, conductor, and performer. He currently serves as Director of Instrumental Activities at Morningside University and is the Music Director of the All-America Concert Band, Siouxland Wind Ensemble, and Siouxland Youth Wind Ensemble. He is also a former instrumentalist and associate conductor with the 451st Army Band.

Dr. Brandt is widely recognized for his commitment to musical excellence and community engagement, and we are excited to welcome his vision and leadership to our ensemble.

We also extend our deepest gratitude to Jerry Bertrand, who retired last July after an extraordinary 38 years as Music Director. His dedication and impact on the band and the Le Mars community are truly immeasurable.

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Brandt and celebrating this exciting new chapter! 🎺

We have a great program prepared, including a duet featuring Kevin Linder (trumpet) and Vance Shoemaker (trombone), a solo by Spencer Schnetzer (trombone), and song with a dixieland combo. We are happy to have LCS superintendent Dr. Steve Webner join us as guest announcer. Thank you to Floyd Valley Hospital for being our sponsor.
